The present disclosure relates to agents, compositions, and methods for inhibiting corrosion in various substrates, for example in metal substrates. The present disclosure also relates to compositions for inhibiting corrosion comprising at least one organic heterocyclic compound and at least one metal salt or mixed metal salt selected from rare earth, alkali earth and transition metals.

The present disclosure is directed to processes, compositions and agents for inhibiting corrosion in various substrates, for example metal substrates. The present disclosure is also directed to corrosion inhibitors comprising organometallic polymers such as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), including compositions and processes comprising MOFs for inhibiting corrosion in metal substrates.

The present invention relates to processes utilizing hydrogen species selectively permeable membranes for synthesis of products. The present invention also relates to processes for synthesizing products from hydrogen insertion or hydrogenation reactions utilizing hydrogen species permeable membranes. The present invention also relates to processes for synthesizing ammonia utilizing hydrogen species selectively permeable membranes. The membranes provide surfaced modified membranes that can comprise a porous layer containing a plurality of reactive sites comprising a metal species and a catalyst for promoting a reaction within the layer.

A metal surface which has been cleaned using an alkaline based solution is treated with an acidic solution which contains rear earth ions to remove any smut which may have been produced during the alkaline cleaning. A coating is formed on the cleaned surface using a different acidic solution containing rare earth cations which have multiple valence states. When the surface is reacted with coating solution, an increase in the pH at the metal surface indirectly results in precipitation of a rare earth metal such as cerium onto the surface. Alternatively, after the removal of the smut, the surface may be coated using a painting technique.
