A joint for joining two tubes together that provides a connection that is highly resistant to relative rotational movement of the two tubes and that provides for connecting the tubes without requiring tools. A tube with a swaged end of smaller diameter that is to be joined to a second tube with a larger diameter contains an interconnection member disposed within the swaged end of the tube. The interconnection member is a button that is spring-biased to extend through a hole in the swaged tube. The end of the swaged tube also includes two slots, disposed on opposing sides of the tube, that receive within them a rivet that extends transversely through the larger diameter tube. As the swaged tube is inserted into the larger diameter tube, the button in the swaged tube springs into a corresponding hole in the larger diameter tube when the holes in the swaged tube and the large diameter tube are in alignment. Alignment of the button holes also aligns the slots of the swaged tube with the transversely extending rivet in the larger diameter tube such that the rivet is received within the slots of the swaged tube. Any rotational force that is applied to either tube will be resisted due to the rigid engagement of the rivet with the sides of the slots that are disposed on opposing sides of the swaged tube.

Apparatus and method for coupling support members

A three-wheeled collapsible stroller which can be used on terrain that is more bumpy or uneven than the smooth terrain suitable for a conventional small-wheeled stroller, but that is also more maneuverable than a conventional three-wheeled 'jogging stroller.' The stroller has a folding frame and automatic side latches so that it is conveniently collapsible into a compact form for transportation and storage. The stroller also had a seat back that is quickly and conveniently adjustable between reclined and upright seating positions and that remains in the same reclined or upright position when folded and unfolded. The brakes of the rear wheels are automatically set when the stroller is fully folded.

A caster assembly for a traveling body has an automatic swivel lock that prevents the caster from swiveling when the caster is a trailing caster on the traveling body and allows the caster to swivel when the caster is a leading caster on the traveling body. The caster assembly includes a lock assembly pivotally mounted to support arms that extend from the swiveling wheel mount. A fixed locking member extends from the traveling body's frame to engage a locking lever extending from the lock assembly when the caster wheel is a trailing wheel on the traveling body. A cam follower engages a cam surface on the inside of the wheel to pivotally disengage the lock assembly from the locking member when the traveling body reverses direction so that the caster, which has become a leading caster, is free to swivel. Upon reversing direction again, the locking lever engages a camming surface on the locking member to pivot the locking lever inward so that the locking lever slips into a recess on the locking lever to prevent the caster wheel from swiveling. Thus, the caster mechanism automatically switches between locked and freely swiveling modes solely in response to a reversal in the direction of the traveling body.

A vehicle booster seat includes a base adapted to be supported on a vehicle seat for supporting a child on the base in an elevated position relative to the vehicle seat; first and second side bolsters on the base extending upwardly from the base for laterally restraining the child; first and second slots in the first and second side bolsters for receiving the vehicle seat belt and guiding the seat belt over the child to restrain the child in the booster seat, and secure the booster seat to the vehicle seat; a removable shield for restraining a child in the booster seat with a lap belt only, the shield including a generally U-shaped shield body having first and second tongue members extending therefrom adapted to slidingly engage the first and second slots in the base respectively for receiving the U-shaped shield in the base; and a guide in the shield body for receiving a seat belt for securing the U-shaped shield to the base and securing the base relative to the vehicle seat.

Vehicle booster seat

A tent is disclosed having movable tent poles for supporting a flexible tent body. An apex junction member is provided for pivotally supporting one of the ends of each of the tent poles, the opposite ends of which are held in a fixed position. A tensioning member is provided movable between a normal position in which the tent is collapsed with the tent poles parallel and adjacent to each other, and a tensioned position for tensioning the tent poles in a splayed apart configuration for placing the tent body in an erect position. A latch member is provided for releasably latching the tensioning member in its tensioned position and the tent in its erect position.
