An adjustable collimator includes pairs of knobs configured to adjust an aperture size by manipulating one or both of the knobs. A pair of knobs configured to adjust different dimensions of the aperture may be disposed at opposite sides of the collimator. Another pair of knobs configured to adjust different dimensions of the aperture may be disposed on a same side of the collimator.

A mobile radiography system includes sensors to detect a tilt angle and or pitch angle of the system to prevent deployment of the extendable boom and/or column and/or prevent activation of a motor drive if the tilt angle or pitch angle exceeds a pre-set boundary.

An adjustable collimator includes a pair of knobs configured to adjust an aperture size by manipulating one or both of the knobs. The knobs may be disposed at opposite ends of a first shaft. The knobs may be configured to each adjust a same dimension of the aperture or to each adjust a different dimension of the aperture.

A mobile radiography system with a wheeled transport frame has a vertical column mounted on the transport frame to hold in position an x-ray tube head. One or more pulley systems inside the vertical column and/or the transport frame allow easily manually adjusting a height of the x-ray tube head. The pulley systems may include cables and fixed and movable pulleys.

Collapsible column movement apparatus for mobile x-ray device

A mobile radiography system includes a wheeled transport frame and a vertical column mounted on the transport frame. A boom is attached to the vertical column and to an x-ray tube head. A boom carriage allows movement of the boom along a track in the vertical column and includes a magnetic mechanism to lock the boom in the track at a desired height. An electromagnetic coil in the boom carriage is configured to disable the magnetic lock mechanism to allow vertical movement of the boom along the track.

A mobile radiography system includes a wheeled transport frame and a vertical column mounted on the transport frame. A telescoping arm is attached to the vertical column and to an x-ray tube head. The telescoping arm includes a first section, a second section movable within the first section, and a third section movable within the second section. The first section and the second section each include a drag assembly configured to provide a drag force on the linearly movable section therewithin. The drag assemblies each include a friction material pressed against the linearly movable section to provide a constant drag force on the linearly movable section while it moves. A permanent pressure source presses the friction material against the linearly movable section.

Polymer magnetic braking system and method

A mobile radiography system includes a wheeled transport frame and a vertical column mounted on the transport frame. A telescoping arm is attached to the vertical column and to an x-ray tube head. The telescoping arm allows an operator to rotate the tube head to a desired orientation and then to fix the tube head in the desired orientation without mechanical impact noise. A permanent magnet and an electromagnetic coil assembly allows an operator to easily and quietly control rotation of the tube head.

A mobile radiography apparatus with a portable transport frame has a sectioned vertical column mounted on the transport frame. The sectioned vertical column defines a vertical axis and has a vertically fixed base section and an upper section that is movable with respect to the base section along the vertical axis. Cable and pulley systems are coupled to the vertical column sections and/or the transport frame. A boom is coupled to the movable section for positioning an x-ray source attached to the boom.

A radiographic imaging apparatus includes elongated rigid guide rails having equivalent symmetrical shapes. Carriages attached to the guide rails are configured to move along a length of the guide rails and to support a portion of the imaging apparatus and to facilitate movement thereof along the guide rails. A first type spherical bearing assembly allows a gimbaled connection thereto while allowing substantially no axial movement. A second type spherical bearing assembly allows a gimbaled connection thereto while allowing a limited amount of axial movement. Frame mounts are each attached to one of the first type and second type spherical bearing assemblies to facilitate movement having a one sided tolerance along the guide rails.

Bearing system for cone beam computed tomography

A cone beam computed tomography imaging system uses a C-shaped structure to revolve a source and detector around an imaging axis. To balance the system a counterweight is attached to the C-shaped structure at one end adjacent to the detector. The source is attached to another end of the C-shaped structure opposite the detector.

Extremity imaging apparatus for cone beam computed tomography

An apparatus and method for handling cable motion within a machine comprises a housing having openings for routing cables therethrough. A bracket proximate one opening of the housing secures in a stationary position thereto a first segment of the cables while a reciprocating member proximate another opening of the housing secures thereto another segment of the cables. A spacer body within the housing facilitates routing of the cables within the housing by causing the cables to travel around the body. Separators are attached to groups of the cables to maintain a desired separation there-between and dividers are placed between separated groups of cables to prevent excessive friction therebetween.

An apparatus for cone beam computed tomography can include a support structure, a scanner assembly coupled to the support structure for controlled movement in at least x, y and z orientations, the scanner assembly can include a DR detector configured to move along at least a portion of a detector path that extends at least partially around a scan volume with a distance Dthat is sufficiently long to allow the scan volume to be positioned within the detector path; a radiation source configured to move along at least a portion of a source path outside the detector path, the source path having a distance Dgreater than the distance D, the distance Dbeing sufficiently long to allow adequate radiation exposure of the scan volume for an image capture by the detector; and a first gap in the detector path.

An x-ray imaging apparatus revolves a digital radiation detector and a radiation source about an imaging area where a subject is positioned to be imaged. A housing encloses the source and the detector, and includes an open housing gap to allow movement of the subject into the imaging area by moving through the open gap. A housing extension may be deployed to close the housing gap and to enclose the detector as it revolves. Shielding assemblies prevent exterior access into the housing.

Extremity imaging apparatus

A mobile radiography apparatus has a portable transport frame and a sectioned vertical column mounted on the frame and defining a vertical axis and having a base section having a fixed vertical position relative to the vertical axis and at least one movable section that is translatable to a variable vertical position along the vertical axis. A counterbalance apparatus is coupled to the at least one movable section of the vertical column with an actuator that is energizable to translate the at least one movable section along the vertical axis. A boom apparatus supports an x-ray source and is coupled to the at least one movable section for vertical displacement of the boom apparatus to a height position. A height sensing element provides a signal that is indicative of the height position of the boom apparatus.
