A system including a container having a door pivotably coupled to the container that is movable between a first position and a second position. A locking assembly is coupled with the container and includes a first shaft and a second shaft generally parallel with and spaced apart from the first shaft, and an over center linkage extending between a respective first pivotal connection between the over center linkage and the first shaft and a respective second pivotal connection between the over center linkage and the second shaft. Further, the locking assembly includes at least one latch coupled with the second shaft and movable between an unlatched position and a latched position. The over center linkage is movable, when the door is at the second position, over center to a state at which the latch is in the latched position and the door is biased toward the second position.

Apparatus and method for remotely locking a container

A transport container is provided including a frame including a front frame and a rear frame, each including two vertical corner posts interconnected by lower and upper crossmembers. The frame also includes a set of lower rails and a set of upper rails extending between the front and rear frames defining upper and lower longitudinal corner edges of the container. The transport container also includes a body comprising a plurality of container walls defining a cargo receiving space, each of the container walls being supported by the frame. The plurality of container walls includes a bottom, first and second longitudinal walls, and first and second end walls. The first longitudinal wall and the second longitudinal wall are flared, such that distance between the first longitudinal wall the second longitudinal wall is widest proximate to an opening disposed at the first end wall.

An apparatus for remotely locking a container includes a vehicle having a main frame and a tipper frame hingedly connected to the main frame, at least one of the main frame and tipper frame being configured to receive and support a container thereon; an actuator assembly for pivoting the tipper frame relative the main frame between a reclined, container loading and transport position and an inclined, dumping position; a container configured for receipt, transport and dumping of material, including a box defining a rear opening, and having a door hingedly connected with the container box to swing between an open, material dumping position and a closed position covering and sealing shut the rear opening; at least one lock mechanism connected to at least one of the box and the door; a locking assembly connected to the container; and, an actuator assembly connected to the tipper frame and physically separate from the locking assembly, and when the container is juxtaposed atop the tipper frame said tipper frame is in the transport position, the actuator assembly is operable upon actuation to engage with and cause the locking assembly to engage with the at least one lock mechanism to pull the door tightly against the box and seal closed the opening.

A compactor can include a first sidewall, a second sidewall, and a bottom wall, which define a receptacle. The compactor can further include a ram assembly positioned with the receptacle and coupled to a drive assembly. The compactor can further include a frame having a lower longitudinal support member extending between the first sidewall and the second sidewall and an upper longitudinal support member extending between the first sidewall and the second sidewall at the top of the receptacle. A continuous, unobstructed opening is defined between the upper longitudinal support member and the lower longitudinal support member, and a removable cover can be fastened to the frame to overlap the continuous, unobstructed opening.

Compactor

A container has door openings at opposite ends for dedicated loading from the discharge of a waste compactor at a door on a vertical hinge axis and unloading by tilt dumping through a swinging panel on a horizontal axis. A removable lid encompasses a substantial portion of the top. The container has standard intermodal fittings. The container can be loaded while on a compaction-reinforcement chassis with a structure that bears against the dumping side door to resist compactor forces. The container is reinforced notwithstanding the plural doors, including at a header and sill at the loading end, a rigid upper frame at traversing between the sides at the hinge for the dumping end, and by a container base including transverse fork-truck tine receptacles. The container is not limited to the specialized reception of compactor slugs and is also useful as a general purpose bulk container.

A container with side and end walls, a top and a bottom, has a closure with a panel movable outwardly perpendicular to a plane of the closure, from a closed and substantially sealed position to a closed and substantially unsealed position to disengage the seal before undertaking a more gross opening movement in which the panel is moved clear of the opening. In one embodiment, a container is provided with a rear or end wall that in its gross movement hinges open and closed to clear or close an opening between container side walls. At least two hinges are mounted between the movable rear wall and a support plate on a sidewall adjacent to the movable rear wall. The support plate is constrained to move perpendicular to the plane of the door opening, shifting the rear wall between a closed and substantially sealed position and a closed and substantially unsealed position. In this manner the seal is subjected only to compression and decompression, with the movable rear wall or top lid in each case being free move open or closed without interference with the seals. A container door stop assembly and pressure release assembly are also provided.

Waste container with displaceable panel closure

A container with side and end walls, a top and a bottom, has a closure with a panel movable outwardly perpendicular to a plane of the closure, from a closed and substantially sealed position to a closed and substantially unsealed position to disengage the seal before undertaking a more gross opening movement in which the panel is moved clear of the opening. In one embodiment a movable lid covers and seals an opening in a top wall. At least two guides are positioned adjacent to the opening and hold captive rollers of a lid carriage that enable the lid to be moved to either side of the container and tilted clear of the opening. The guides are movable in a direction perpendicular to the closure plane and either lift the lid to disengage the seal or pull the lid downwardly to compress the seal. In another embodiment, a container is provided with a rear or end wall that in its gross movement hinges open and closed to clear or close an opening between container side walls. At least two hinges are mounted between the movable rear wall and a support plate on a sidewall adjacent to the movable rear wall. The support plate is constrained to move perpendicular to the plane of the door opening, shifting the rear wall between a closed and substantially sealed position and a closed and substantially unsealed position. In this manner the seal is subjected only to compression and decompression, with the movable rear wall or top lid in each case being free move open or closed without interference with the seals.

A vehicle for temporary support of intermodal cargo containers, especially a trailer for a tractor/trailer rig, has deployable locating pins placed centrally along the length of a chassis, for locating containers placed end-to-end. The locating pins center containers of different lengths relative to the chassis, which is long enough to accommodate the longest standard length of container or two short containers. The locating pins are resiliently mounted such that a long container or misplaced containers that are set down on the pins, cause the pins to be depressed into the chassis. Stop pins define an endpoint for an end of a container, and two resiliently mounted engagement pins on each side, are positioned for engaging the corner fittings of intermodal containers when abutted against the locating pins. A movable section with a hingeable wing structure carrying resiliently mounted engagement pins can be provided on lateral sides of the trailer, lockable when deployed using a manual locking means bearing between the movable section and the chassis, and supporting resiliently retractable engagement pins for coupling with the corner fittings of two or more containers placed end to end.
