A wiper seal for a hydraulic component is provided. The wiper seal includes a support member and a body portion. The support member includes a first leg having an inner surface, a first end, and a second end. The first leg extends substantially parallel to a reference axis. A second leg having an outer surface extends substantially perpendicular to the reference axis from the first end of the first leg. The body portion defines an opening therethrough and includes an outer peripheral surface configured to receive the inner surface of the first leg of the support member, a first radial face extending substantially coplanar to the outer surface of the second leg, an inner surface disposed at an angle relative to the reference axis and extending to a lip adjacent the first radial face, and a second radial face extending generally perpendicular to the reference axis from the second end of the first leg of the support member. The first radial face includes a first cutout and the second radial face includes a second cutout.

Wiper seal

A radial seal arrangement for sealingly engaging an outer surface of a shaft is provided. The radial seal arrangement includes a support member that has a first leg with an outer surface that extends substantially perpendicular to a reference axis. The support member also includes a second leg that extends substantially parallel to the reference axis from the first leg to a first end. The radial seal arrangement further includes a body portion that includes an outer peripheral surface extending substantially parallel to the reference axis from the first leg to a point past the first end of the second leg, a first radial face having a relief notch and extending substantially coplanar to the outer surface of the first leg, a first sealing portion having a first chamfered surface extending from the first radial face to a first lip, and a second sealing portion separated from the first sealing portion by a first recessed area and separated from the outer peripheral surface by a second recessed area. The second sealing portion includes an edge extending substantially perpendicular to the reference axis and a second chamfered surface extending from the edge to a second lip. The first lip and second lip are spaced from each other along a line generally parallel to the reference axis.

Radial seal arrangement

A wiper seal for a hydraulic component is provided. The wiper seal includes a support member with a first leg that has an inner surface, a first end, and a second end and that extends substantially parallel to a reference axis. The support member further includes a second leg that has an outer surface extending substantially perpendicular to the reference axis from the first end of the first leg. The wiper seal also includes a body portion that defines an opening therethrough and includes an outer peripheral surface configured to receive the inner surface of the first leg of the support member. A first radial face extends substantially coplanar with the outer surface of the second leg and a second radial face extends generally perpendicular to the reference axis from the second end of the first leg of the support member. The second radial face includes a cutout defining a first cavity. An inner surface defines a first sealing lip adjacent the first radial face. A projection extends from the inner surface to a second sealing lip. The second sealing lip is separated from the first sealing lip by a second cavity.

A seal is provided having a back surface that is generally perpendicular with a longitudinal axis of the seal and a sealing portion on the side opposite the back surface. The sealing portion is defined by first and second intersecting surfaces. A plurality of projections are disposed on one of the first and second surfaces at a location generally adjacent the intersection of the surfaces and a cylindrical recess is defined in at least a portion of the plurality of projections. The sides of the cylindrical recesses and the plurality of projections are oriented perpendicular to the back surface to enhance the ability to manufacture the seal in an economical manner.

Textured seal

A unidirectional rod sealing ring adapted for forming a sealed condition in association with a member such as a piston rod or shaft axially movable in a bore of a hydraulic cylinder, the sealing ring including an elastomeric ring member having an axially facing sealing face, an opposite axially facing pressure face, a circumferential radial outer surface, and a circumferential radial inner surface, the elastomeric ring member being cooperatively receivable in an annular groove around the bore of a hydraulic cylinder with the sealing face in position in opposed relation to a first axial groove wall, and the pressure face positioned in opposed relation to an opposite second groove wall, the sealing face including at least one continuous annular bead of relatively small radial extent positioned for sealably engaging the first axial groove wall, and the radial inner surface including an inner most circumferential lip of relatively small axial extent positioned for circumferential sealed engagement with the member axially movable in the bore.

Unidirectional rod sealing ring for a hydraulic cylinder

A wiper seal is disclosed which includes an elastomeric member having a metal support member adhesively bonded thereto. The elastomeric member has a first substantially flat surface that is perpendicular to a reference axis of the wiper seal, an outer peripheral surface that is substantially parallel with the reference axis, and an inner peripheral surface that forms an acute angle with the reference axis. The metal support member has a first leg portion that coincides with the outer peripheral surface and a second leg portion that coincides with the substantially flat perpendicular surface. The intersection of the first and second leg portions forms a generally sharp corner or at least a predetermined minimum radius size. When the wiper seal is installed in a recess of a housing, the substantially flat perpendicular surface is generally flush with the surface of the housing adjacent the recess to substantially eliminate recesses or pockets that could retain dirt and/or other contaminants.

Shaft wiper seal

A buffer seal is provided and adapted to absorb high pressures. The buffer seal includes a body portion and a sealing portion with a backup ring disposed in a groove adjacent to the sealing portion. The sealing portion has a first surface that is perpendicular to a reference axis of the buffer seal and a second surface that forms an acute angle with the reference axis, preferably less than thirty degrees. The first surface of the sealing portion extends axially from the body portion to form a shoulder. The shoulder functions during use to provide a surface that pressurized fluid can act against to urge the sealing portion against a shaft.

Buffer seal

A rod scraper for hydraulic cylinders and the like is disclosed which includes an elastomeric ring member having an inner surface defining a central aperture adapted for receiving a rod for axial movement relative thereto, the inner surface including a scraper portion having an inner most circumferential lip positioned adjacent one end of the elastomeric seal member for scraping the rod, the elastomeric ring member further having a curved outer surface portion generally axially coextensive with the scraper portion, and a metallic backing ring affixed in overlaying relation to at least a substantial portion of the curved outer surface portion of the elastomeric ring member, the backing ring being resiliently biased against the curved outer surface portion to urge the lip of the elastomeric ring member against the rod and sufficiently flexible to allow some radial movement of the rod while maintaining the lip in circumferential contact with the rod.

Rod scraper

A radial seal arrangement is disclosed and adapted for use in providing a sealed surface with a shaft. The radial seal arrangement includes an elastomeric member and a metal support member bonded thereto. The elastomeric member includes a first sealing portion that is defined by a lip portion and a second sealing portion defined by a first surface extending at an acute angle from a perpendicular radial surface and a second surface that extends from and is generally perpendicular with the first surface. The metal support member includes a first leg that extends in a linear direction with respect to a reference axis of the seal arrangement and a second leg that extends generally along the perpendicular radial surface. The second leg of the metal support member terminating at a location generally adjacent to the first surface of the second sealing portion.
