A mold slide has a slide part with a slide body movable along a first direction. The slide body has an angle pin hole formed therein and defines an axis. The angle pin hole has a pocket at one end thereof. An angle pin bushing is seated in the pocket and defines an angle pin bore that is parallel to the axis of the angle pin hole. A mold part is adjacent to the slide part and movable relative to the slide part along a second direction different from the first direction. An angle pin is carried on the mold part. A portion of the angle pin is positioned in and movable in concert with the mold part relative to the angle pin bore in the angle pin bushing to move the slide part along the first direction.

A gib includes a metallic substrate having a first face and a second face and an attachment disposed on the metallic substrate. The attachment includes a first functional surface disposed on the first face of the metallic substrate. The first functional surface is configured as a bearing surface. The attachment may be formed of a fabric resin composite material.

Low friction gib

An inlay or identifier element system for identifying and/or matching corresponding parts of an apparatus includes a color coding or other indicia on a visible surface of an inlay and a pocket formed in a surface of the apparatus. The inlay is inserted in the pocket, which is positioned to identify a first part of the apparatus. A matching color coding or indicia is on a second part of the apparatus to be coupled to the first part. The visible surface of the inlay is flush with or sub flush with a portion of the surface of the apparatus that surrounds the pocket.

System and method for identifying and matching corresponding components in an apparatus

An inlay or identifier element system for identifying and/or matching corresponding parts of an apparatus includes a color coding or other indicia on a visible surface of an inlay and a pocket formed on the apparatus. The inlay is inserted in the pocket, which is positioned to identify a first part of the apparatus. A matching color coding or indicia is on a second part of the apparatus to be coupled to the first part.

A mold tool has a first mold part with a first side forming a first surface, a nozzle exposed on the first side of the first mold part, and a locating ring mounted to the first mold part. The ring has a body of a metal material and a guard of a material softer than the metal material. The body has a ring shape, a perimeter surface facing radially outward, a central opening concentric with a center axis, a mounting face, and a locating face opposite the mounting face. The guard is connected to the body radially within the perimeter surface and projects axially beyond the locating face. The locating ring surrounds and exposes the nozzle. The locating ring can be mounted to the first mold part. A second mold part can be arranged in proximity to the first mold part and have a locating hole in a second surface. The mold parts can be moved toward one another until the guard contacts the second surface or enters the locating hole. The mold parts can be repositioned relative to one another until the guard and the perimeter surface align with the locating hole and then can be moved further toward one another until the locating ring seats in the locating hole and the first and second surfaces engage one another.

Locating ring

A locating ring has a metal body with a ring shape and having a perimeter surface facing radially outward, a center axis defined by the body, a mounting face, and a locating face spaced from and facing opposite the mounting face along the axis. The locating ring has a guard connected to the body and made of a material that is softer than the metal body. The guard is sized to be radially within the perimeter wall and to project axially beyond the locating face.

An improved sucker pin bushing for an injection mold is disclosed. In various preferred embodiments, the improved sucker pin bushing maintains much of the configuration of a conventional sucker pin bushing, namely a body portion and a head portion having a larger diameter than the body portion. A shoulder is formed where the body portion meets the head portion. However, the need for a jam screw or other retaining means is eliminated by the present invention by the inclusion of threads on the head portion of the bushing.

A friction puller for an injection mold is disclosed. The friction puller has a bolt with a head portion and a threaded portion. The friction puller has first and second first substantially hemispherical wedges having a first and second passages running through them for the bolt and allow lateral float about the bolt. The friction puller also has a deformable jacket having a third passage running through is for the bolt and first and second substantially hemispherical cups for receiving the first and second substantially hemispherical wedges. The first hemispherical wedge can have a vent relief notch disposed in a top surface of the first hemispherical wedge. The deformable jacket can have a jacket vent notch disposed in a top surface of the deformable jacket. The bolt head and the jacket can have alignment indicator marks thereon. The bolt threads can have a variable pitch diameter.

Injection mold friction puller

A friction puller for an injection mold is disclosed. The friction puller has a bolt with a head portion and a threaded portion. The friction puller has first and/or second first substantially hemispherical wedges having a first and/or second passages running through them for the bolt and allow lateral float about the bolt. The friction puller also has a deformable jacket having a third passage running through is for the bolt and first and second substantially hemispherical cups for receiving the first and second substantially hemispherical wedges. The first hemispherical wedge can have a vent relief notch disposed in a top surface of the first hemispherical wedge. The deformable jacket can have a jacket vent notch disposed in a top surface of the deformable jacket. The bolt head and the jacket can have alignment indicator marks thereon. The bolt threads can have a variable pitch diameter.

A retaining device for an injection mold is disclosed. The retaining device has a device body which has a top surface and a bottom surface. A live bearing is mounted in the device body such that a portion of the live bearing extends above a top surface of the device body. The device is secured such that the live bearing supports movement of a first portion of the injection mold. A shoulder surface is formed where a body head portion interfaces with a body base portion. A spring is disposed around the body base portion such that a spring top is in communication with the shoulder surface, and a spring bottom extends below the bottom surface of the device body. The spring creates a 'pre-load' force that will hold the slide in place. Optional washers can be added to the device to adjust the 'pre-load.'

A slide retaining device for an injection mold is disclosed. The slide retaining device has a device body which has a top surface and a bottom surface. A live bearing can be mounted in the device body such that a portion of the live bearing extends above a top surface of the device body. The device is secured such that the live bearing supports the travel of a slide. A shoulder surface is formed where a body head portion interfaces with a body base portion. A spring is disposed is around the body base portion such that a spring top is in communication with the shoulder surface, and a spring bottom extends below the bottom surface of the device body. The spring creates a 'pre-load' force that will hold the slide in place. Optional washers can be added to the device to adjust the 'pre-load'.
