A device for the transmission of one-way torque comprising an outer annular member having a plurality of radially inwardly projecting teeth each comprising a driving surface and a cam surface, and a shaft concentrically mounted with respect to the outer annular member and comprising a plurality of drive elements each having a driving surface and a cam surface. Rotation of the shaft or outer annular member in its driving direction causes engagement of a driving surface of at least one drive element with a driving surface of at least one tooth thereby resulting in joint rotation of the shaft and outer annular member. Rotation of the shaft or outer annular member in its non-driving direction causes engagement of the cam surface of at least one drive element with the cam surface of at least one tooth resulting in additional relative movement, substantially radially, between the drive element and tooth, thereby preventing rotational movement being transmitted between the shaft and the outer annular member.

A dry powder inhaler comprises a housing that has a portion that receives a dose of powdered medicament, a patient port that is placed in fluid communication with a patient; an inhalation passageway in communication with the patient port, a deagglomerator that deagglomerates or assists in aerosolization of the dose of powdered medicament; an electric powered device that drives the deagglomerator; a patient-independent energy output source that drives the electric powered device, a detector that detects inspiratory flow through the inhalation passageway; and a controller for actuating the deagglomerator in response to detection of the inspiratory flow by the detector.

Dry powder inhalation device

An inhalation device for dry powder containing a chamber capable of receiving a dose of powdered medicament. The chamber is in communication with a patient port in the form of a mouthpiece or nasal adapter. The inhalation device also contains a deagglomeration/aerosolization apparatus capable of deagglomerating and/or aerosolizing a dose of powdered medicament and is operable by a patient-independent energy output source. The inhalation device further includes detection apparatus that ascertains patient inspiration through the patient port, and a control apparatus that actuates the deagglomeration/aerosolization apparatus in response to detection of patient inspiration.

Inhalation device

The present invention relates to a device for dislodging powder carried on the surface of a flexible sheet material. The device incorporates a resettable impactor including a head for striking the sheet material, wherein the head comprises an elongate striking surface which is curved in both planes orthoganol to the plan of the sheet material.

Dry powder inhalers

The invention provides an aerosol device for the dispensing of a pressurized liquid as an aerosol without the use of a predosed propellant, comprising a liquid storage container, a valve assembly with spray button, a fluid feed for supplying the liquid from the container to the valve, and a pump assembly capable of introducing atmospheric air into the container. The pump assembly has a pressure chamber defined by a wall and having generally open and closed ends, structure for attaching the pump assembly to the container, a piston and one or more one way valves, with the valves located at the generally closed end of the pressure chamber and comprising one or more holes releaseably sealed on the outside of the chamber by one or more elastically deformable members. The central axis of the valve of the aerosol device is not coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the pump assembly.

Aerosol dispensing device

An aerosol dispenser for use with an aerosol vial. The dispenser contains an assembly that indicates the quantity of doses dispensed from or remaining in the aerosol vial. The assembly comprises a rotatable indicator comprising a circumferential rack that is engaged by a worm-gear. Reciprocal movement of an aerosol vial within the dispenser causes rotation of the worm-gear which in turn causes rotation of the rack.

An aeorsol dispensing apparatus for dispensing a liquid under pressure as an aerosol without the use of a pre-dosed propellant, comprising a container for storing the liquid to be sprayed, spray mechanism, and a mechanism for manually introducing atmospheric air into the apparatus to generate a positive pressure therein, the spray mechanism having a nozzle by which the fluid may be dispensed and a feeder pipe to supply the nozzle with fluid to be sprayed, characterized in that the apparatus additionally comprises an intermediate spacer collar which supports the spray mechanism, and to which the container may be attached.

A cartridge refill pen is provided with a cartridge refill cavity which allows a cartridge to be laterally loaded into the pan. The cavity is opened and closed on relative rotational movement of interconnected generally tubular parts of the pen.

Breach loading cartridge pen

A device facilitating the inhalation of powdered medicaments from within a container. The device comprises a body having walls partially defining a chamber, an inlet port into the chamber for the entry of air, and a mouthpiece having a central through opening communicating with the chamber. A support member also partially defines the chamber and is manually movable relative to the body to convey a first portion of the container from (1) a first position spaced from the chamber to (2) a predetermined dispense position within the chamber with an open end of the first capsule portion uppermost so that airflow into the inlet port and through the chamber induced by suction at the mouthpiece will cause the powdered medicament in the first container portion to become entrained in the airflow; and an extractor is mounted for movement relative to the body to remove a second container portion and open the container prior to positioning of the first container portion at the dispense position.
