A plug for insertion into a blast-tube exit cavity of a gun-blast diffuser comprises a plug front surface, a plug rear surface, a plug side surface that extends between the plug front surface and the plug rear surface, a body, comprising a polyurethane foam, and a substrate, coupled to the body and comprising a conductive nonwoven fabric, impregnated with a polyurethane matrix. The plug front surface of the plug is formed by the substrate. The plug rear surface of the plug is formed by the body. The plug side surface of the plug is formed by the substrate and the body.

Aircraft gun-blast diffusers, plugs for aircraft gun-blast diffusers, and methods of making such plugs

Rupture fairings are disclosed. A disclosed example fairing for use with an aircraft includes a surface to at least partially define an exterior surface of the aircraft when the fairing is installed onto the aircraft, and a membrane to rupture during flight of the aircraft, where the membrane defines at least a portion of the exterior surface.

A method and apparatus comprising a sealing member, an integral structure associated with the sealing member, and an engagement section extending from the sealing member. The sealing member is configured to be attached to a surface of an object. The sealing member is consolidated with the integral structure. Surface sealing system

An optical defect detection system is provided for recording an image of a transparency for detecting optical defects therein. The transparency may be formed with a contour. The defect detection system may comprise a light source, a diffuser and an image recording device for recording images of the transparency. The light source is configured to emit light and may be positioned adjacent one of the sides of the transparency. The image recording device may be positioned on a side of the transparency opposite the diffuser. The diffuser may be contoured complementary to the contour of the transparency and may be positioned between the light source and the transparency.
