A wireless diagnostic sensor link for providing wireless communication between a signal source and a monitoring device. The wireless diagnostic sensor link includes a signal input device operable for receiving a signal from the signal source in a first communication protocol in the form of an analog signal, converting the analog signal to a digital signal, and transmitting the digital signal in the form of a wireless communication protocol. The wireless diagnostic sensor link also includes a signal output device, which receives the digital signal. The signal output device is in electrical communication with the monitoring device, and is also operable for communicating with the signal input device. The signal output device converts the digital signal back to an analog signal, and sends the signal to the monitoring device in the form of a second communications protocol.

Wireless diagnostic sensor link

An adapter for providing wireless communication between a transducer and a computer. The adapter of the present invention includes a processor and a first connector operable for connecting the adapter to the transducer. The connector is in electrical communication with the processor such that the processor receives at least one measured parameter from the transducer. The present invention also includes at least one radio transmitter in electrical communication with the processor, the processor operable to transfer the measured parameter to the at least one radio transmitter for wirelessly transmitting the measured parameter to the computer. The radio transmitter is able to broadcast in one or more wireless communication protocols. The adapter of the present invention is suitable for operation with any type of transducer that functions as a sensor/detector, an actuator, or the like, and is able to transfer the measured parameter detected by the transducer wirelessly to a computer.

The present invention is an adapter for providing wireless communication between a digital multimeter (DMM) and a computer. The adapter has a processor as well as a transmitter operable for transmitting signals to the (DMM) from the processor. The adapter also includes a receiver operable for receiving signals from the DMM, the processor is able to receive the signals from the receiver. The adapter of the present invention also includes at least one radio transmitter operable for providing wireless communication between the processor and the computer. The data measurements obtained through communication with the DMM via the receiver and transmitter are transferred wirelessly to the adapter. The data measurements obtained by the adapter are then transferred wirelessly from the adapter to the computer through the radio transmitter. The radio transmitter is operable to communicate wirelessly with the computer in one or more communication protocols, such as Zigbee and WiFi.

A method and apparatus for monitoring service life parameters of a computer system 10 includes a processor 72 connected to sensors 78, 80, 82, 84, a control memory 74 having an operating program stored therein and a data memory 76 having a finite write life. The sensors 78, 80, 82, 84 sense operating parameters of the computer system 10 and generate sensor signals to which the processor 72 responds by generating a data signal. The data memory 76 responds to the data signal by storing information related to the predetermined operating parameter as a data log. The processor 72 generates the data signal in a manner that maximizes the write life of the data memory 76.

Method and apparatus for monitoring computer system service life

Front and rear housings of a industrial computer workstation are mechanically connected by separable hinges and a manually operable latch and are electrically connected in a closed position through a cableless connection provided by a two-part electrical connector. The connector includes connector halves which mate together in the closed position. The front and rear housings are pivotally and completely removably connected to move from the closed position to an open position by the separable hinges. The front housing is adapted to be permanently mounted to an end user's electrical panel. The rear housing is piloted and latched into place against the front housing by a pilot and the latch, respectively. The latch and the separable hinges eliminate the need for any special tools in completely removing the rear housing. The pilot is preferably a tapered pin which steers and seats the rear housing against the front housing. Once the rear housing is unlatched and hinged out, it can be lifted off the separable hinges. The front housing preferably supports a membrane keyboard for user interface with a computer housed within the rear housing. The front housing also includes a window in which a flat panel display preferably housed within the rear housing is aligned for the projection of images through the window. In this way, access to change electronic components such as the computer, the display, and display back lights is easy, thereby providing easy maintenance and service of the electronic components.
