A battery module having first and second battery cells is provided. The battery module includes a first frame member having a first substantially rectangular ring-shaped outer plastic frame and a first heat exchanger. The first heat exchanger has first and second thermally conductive plates that are coupled together and define a first flow path portion extending therethrough. The first battery cell is disposed on and against a first side of the first thermally conductive plate. The second battery cell is disposed on and against the first side of the first thermally conductive plate. The second battery cell is further disposed proximate to the first battery cell.

Battery module and method of assembling the battery module

A battery pack having a battery module with a bottom surface and a top surface is provided. The battery module includes a plurality of flow channels extending through the battery module from the top surface to the bottom surface. The battery pack includes a base assembly adapted to hold the battery module therein. The base assembly has a bottom wall and a first end and a second end. The bottom surface of the battery module is disposed at an acute angle relative to the bottom wall of the base assembly in a first direction extending from the first end toward the second end. The battery pack includes a cover assembly having a top wall extending substantially parallel to the bottom wall of the base assembly, and a top surface of the battery module that is disposed at an acute angle relative to the top wall of the cover assembly.

Battery pack

A battery pack includes a first battery module having first and second battery frame assemblies and first and second battery cells. The first battery frame assembly has a plastic frame member, a thermally conductive plate, a busbar, and a voltage sensing member. The plastic frame member has a rectangular ring-shaped body. The thermally conductive plate is coupled to rectangular ring-shaped body. The busbar has a first post and a first conductive body coupled to the first post. The first post extends outwardly from the plastic frame member, and the first conductive body extends through the rectangular ring-shaped body. The voltage sensing member has a first sensing post and a first sensing body. The first sensing post extends outwardly from the rectangular ring-shaped body.

A battery pack includes a battery pack housing defining an interior region with first and second interior spaces and an intermediate space. The battery pack housing includes inlet and outlet apertures communicating with the first and second interior spaces, respectively. The battery pack has a battery module disposed in the first interior space having a first battery cell and a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger defines a first flow path portion therethrough. The battery pack has a fan assembly disposed in the intermediate space having a first electric fan, and a thermally conductive housing disposed in the second interior space that defines a second flow path portion. The first electric fan urges air to flow through the inlet aperture, the first flow path portion, a portion of the first electric fan, the second flow path portion, and the outlet aperture.

A battery cell assembly is provided. The battery cell assembly includes a first frame assembly having a first substantially rectangular ring-shaped frame and a first coupling member. The first coupling member of the first frame assembly has a first tongue portion with first and second resilient arm members. The battery cell assembly further includes a second frame assembly having a second substantially rectangular ring-shaped frame and a first coupling member. The first coupling member of the second frame assembly has a female member with a first aperture such that the first and second resilient arm members extend through the first aperture and engage an engagement surface defined by the female member of the first coupling member of the second frame assembly.

Battery cell assembly

A battery pack having a cooling plate assembly and a battery module is provided. The cooling plate assembly has a pan member, first and second corrugated support members, a cover plate, and a thermally conductive layer. The pan member has first and second depressed plate portions. The first and second corrugated support members are disposed on the first and second depressed plate portions, respectively. The cover plate is coupled to the pan member such that the first and second corrugated support members are held between the cover plate and the pan member in first and second internal regions, respectively, defined by the cover plate and the pan member. The thermally conductive layer is disposed on the cover plate. The battery module is disposed on the thermally conductive layer.

Battery pack having a cooling plate assembly

A battery cell assembly having first and second frame members is provided. The first frame member has a first rectangular ring-shaped body and a first coupler portion. The first coupler portion has a first tab member with a first metal trim clip member coupled thereto. The second frame member has a second rectangular ring-shaped body and a second coupler portion. The second coupler portion has first and second substantially flat walls and first and second peripheral wall portions defining an interior region. The second substantially flat wall has an aperture extending therethrough. The first metal trim clip member is disposed through the aperture and into the interior region of the second coupler portion, and engages an inner surface of the second substantially flat wall to couple the second frame member to the first frame member.

A battery cell assembly having a cooling fin with a tube, a substantially rectangular-shaped metal plate, first and second cylindrical coupling members, and first and second O-ring gaskets is provided. The tube has an inlet tube portion and an outlet tube portion. The tube is coupled to a peripheral region of the metal plate. The first cylindrical coupling member has a first aperture extending therethrough, and first and second circumferential grooves. The inlet tube portion is disposed in the first aperture and coupled to the first cylindrical coupling member. The first and second O-ring gaskets are disposed in the first and second circumferential grooves, respectively. The outlet tube portion is disposed in the second aperture and is coupled to the second cylindrical coupling member.

Battery cell assembly and method for coupling a cooling fin to first and second cooling manifolds

A battery module and a method for assembling the battery module are provided. The battery module includes a first end plate, a second end plate, a frame member, a first battery cell disposed between the first end plate and the frame member, and a second battery cell disposed between the second end plate and the frame member. The battery module further includes a first shoulder bolt having a first head portion, a first shaft portion, a first shoulder portion, and a first threaded portion. The first shoulder bolt is disposed such that the first head portion is disposed against the first end plate and the first shaft portion extends through a first aperture of the first end plate and a first aperture of the frame member, and the first shoulder portion is disposed against the second end plate.

Battery module and method for assembling the battery module

A battery assembly includes a first battery frame assembly having a first plastic frame member and a first thermally conductive plate. The first plastic frame member has a rectangular ring-shaped peripheral wall and a plurality of cross-members. The battery assembly further includes a first thermally conductive plate having peripheral edges encapsulated within the first substantially rectangular ring-shaped peripheral wall. The plate further includes exposed portions configured to contact air passing through a first plurality of channels in the peripheral wall and past the first thermally conductive plate and through a second plurality of channels in the peripheral wall. The battery assembly further includes a first battery cell configured to contact the first thermally conductive plate.
