Directed handovers in a cellular network for airborne mobile telemetry

There is set forth herein, in one embodiment, receiving an aggregate scanning signal stream from a set of scanning antennas configured in a scanning configuration; receiving aggregate communication signal streams from first to Nth sets of communication antennas configured in respective communication configurations; identifying an interfering signal stream within the aggregate scanning signal stream and determining a direction associated to such interfering signal stream, wherein the identifying and determining are performed with use of processing of the aggregate scanning signal streams received from the scanning antennas configured in a scanning configuration; and returning an action decision responsively to the identifying and the determining.

Interference mitigation in multi-antenna system

A method of estimating and compensating for Doppler frequency shifts includes providing an accurate reference device for generating an accurate reference frequency in a Doppler estimation and compensation (DEC) system, the DEC system being electrically connected to a user device. The DEC system receives one of a downlink signal from a base station and an uplink signal from the user device. The one of the downlink signal and the uplink signal is compared to the accurate reference frequency. An estimate of a Doppler frequency shift associated with the one of the downlink signal and the uplink signal is determined. An offset Doppler frequency shift of opposite sign as the Doppler frequency shift is added to the one of the downlink signal and uplink signal to provide a compensated signal. The compensated signal is transmitted to one of the base station and user device.

Doppler estimation and compensation for wireless communication systems

Various embodiments of the present invention relate to wireless network management. One specific example relates to efficient radio frequency (RF) spectrum management involving multiple mobile vehicles, whereby a system and/or a method of the invention achieves greatly improved spectral efficiency in the assignment of frequency bands to communications channels between the vehicles and/or stationary ground stations. Other examples of the present invention provide systems and methods to analyze the RF emissions resulting from the motion of transmitters and/or receivers through airspace with the help of five-dimensional quanta of space (x, y, z), time and frequency to assign frequency bands to test plans (including previously-validated test plan(s) and/or to-be-validated test plan(s)). In one specific example, the analysis is directed to the assignment of frequency bands with and without reuse.

Systems and methods for efficient radio frequency spectrum management in a scenario involving multiple mobile vehicles

An adaptive wireless multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system switches among two or more modes of operation including Uninformed Transmitter (UT) and Informed Transmitter (IT) modes based on channel conditions as reflected in a set of metrics including a temporal selectivity metric (TSM) indicative of the temporal dynamics of the MIMO channel. In an exemplary embodiment, the adaptive MIMO system uses a dominant eigenmode IT mode of operation if a signal-to-noise ratio is below a threshold, otherwise, the system uses an IT mode or a UT mode based on the TSM. If the TSM indicates a channel that is changing too rapidly for feedback to be effective, the UT mode is used, otherwise the IT mode is used. Overall system capacity in time varying MIMO channels is thereby improved.

System for MIMO spatial adaptivity in dynamic environments

In a geo-location system, the location of an object in space is determined by transmitting polarized signals towards the object. To prevent erroneous determinations due to signals which reach the object after reflection the transmitted signals are polarized. The receiver at the object includes a cross-polarization discriminator and accepts only directly transmitted signals and not reflected signals which have been cross-polarized by the reflection. The transmitted signals may be ultra-wide band signals which can penetrate into buildings. An object whose location can thus be determined can also transmit polarized signals to another object which can not be reached by signals from the original transmitter. Further the ultra-wide band signals may utilize transmission in discontinuous frequency bands to avoid interference with existing systems.
