An accessible storage, rest, or work accommodation for an aircraft having a passenger cabin with a ceiling and a crown space above the ceiling, comprising: (a) a compartment in the crown space having at least one bunk; (b) an aperture in the passenger cabin ceiling, connecting the compartment to the passenger cabin; (c) a landing positioned below a floor of the compartment, below at least a portion of the aperture, inside the passenger cabin module; and (d) stairs or a ladder leading from the landing to a floor of the passenger cabin.

Overhead accommodations for aircraft

A method of transporting and stowing an object within an aircraft comprises inserting the object into a transport unit; activating a first transfer drive system attached to said transport unit; drawing the object into said transport unit via a first motor and a first wheel of said first transfer drive system; conveying said transport unit to a stowage unit; releasing the object from the transport unit; and inserting the object into said stowage unit.

Aircraft cart transport and stowage system

An object transport and stowage system for an aircraft () includes a transport unit () for the transport of an object () within the aircraft (). A first transfer drive system () is attached to the transport unit () and includes object engagement devices () that are engagable with the object (). A motor () is mechanically coupled to and rotates one or more of the object engagement devices (). A controller () is electrically coupled to the motor () and translates the object () relative to the transport unit (). A deployable receptacle includes a tray for supporting an object thereon and being movable between a storing position and a deploying position. The tray stores an object thereon when the tray is disposed in the storing position and deploys the object therefrom when the tray is disposed in the deploying position. A lever is coupled to the tray for moving the tray between the storing position and the deploying position.

One advantageous embodiment of the present invention is an integrated transport system () for moving an object () in an aircraft () between a main cabin () and an overhead cabin () via a shaft () in connection therebetween. This integrated transport system () includes a single-unit gantry-lift device () with an object carrier () for receiving the object (). This object carrier () has one or more restraint members () for securing the object () in the object carrier () and preventing the object () from inadvertently tipping or falling out of the object carrier (). In this embodiment, the single-unit gantry-lift device () further includes a lift device () for moving the object carrier () generally along a longitudinal axis () of the shaft () and a gantry device () for moving the object carrier () generally along a first axis () of the overhead cabin () and/or a second axis (), which is disposed generally perpendicular to the first axis ().
