Polymer composition showing an improved balance of flexural modulus, IZOD impact strength and elongation at break comprising (percent by weight): A) a polymer blend comprising: A1) 50-70% of a crystalline propylene homopolymer or copolymer; and A2) 30-50% of one or more copolymer(s) of ethylene with one or more C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) containing from 15 to 35% of said C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s); said polymer blend (A) having values of MFR equal to or higher than 10 g/10 min., a total content C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) equal to or higher than 8% and an intrinsic viscosity value of the fraction soluble in xylene at room temperature of from 1.3 to 2 dl/g, the amounts of (A1) and (A2) being referred to the total weight of the polymer blend; and optionally B) 1-15% of an elastomeric polymer different from A2), having a hardness (Shore A, ASTM D-2240) value equal to or lower than 90 points; and/or C) 0.5-20% of a mineral filler; the amounts of optional components (B) and (C) being referred to the total weight of the composition.

Polyolefin composition having a high balance of stiffness, impact strength and elongation at break and low thermal shrinkage

A masterbatch composition comprising (percent by weight): A) 50%-90% of a crystalline polypropylene component comprising: A) from 25% to 75% of a fraction having a melt flow rate MFRof from 0.1 to 10 g/10 min.; and A) from 75% to 25% of a fraction having a melt flow rate value MFRequal to or lower than 100 g/10 min.; wherein the ratio MFR/MFRis from 5 to 60; and B) 10%-50% of a copolymer component of ethylene and at least one C-C&#x3b1;-olefin, containing from 15% to 50% of ethylene; said masterbatch composition having a value of the intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of the fraction soluble in xylene at room temperature equal to or higher than 3.5 dl/g, is added to polyolefin materials to obtain final compositions suitable for injection molding.

A masterbatch composition comprising (percent by weight): A) 15%-50% of a polypropylene component having a melt flow rate of from 1 to 250 g/10 min.; and B) 50%-85% of an olefin polymer partially soluble in xylene at room temperature, containing from 60% to 85% by weight of ethylene; said masterbatch composition having (i) a value of the intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of the fraction soluble in xylene at room temperature ([&#x3b7;]) equal to or lower than 2.9 dl/g, and (ii) a value of the ratio MFR/[&#x3b7;], , , , equal to or lower than 4, is added to polyolefin materials to obtain final compositions suitable for injection molding.

Polyolefin compositions comprising (percent by weight): 1) 55-80% of a crystalline propylene homopolymer or copolymer containing up to 15% of ethylene and/or C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) and having an MFR value of at least 15 g/10 min, and 2) 2) 20-45 wt % of a copolymer of ethylene with one or more C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) containing from 10 to 4 wt % of said C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s). Impact-resistant polyolefin compositions

A polyolefin composition comprising (percentage by weight): (A) from 60 to 85% of a broad molecular weight distribution propylene polymer (component A) having a polydispersity index from 5 to 15 and melt flow rate of from 20 to 78 g/10 min (according to ASTM-D 1238, condition L); and (B) from 15 to 40% of a partially xylene-soluble olefin polymer rubber (component B) containing at least 65% by weight of ethylene. Said composition finds application in automotive field.

Polyolefin composition having a high balance of stiffness and impact strength

Polypropylene pipes (parts by weight): 1) 100 parts of a crystalline random copolymer of propylene with 1-15% by weight of a C-C&#x3b1;-olefin or a crystalline random copolymer of propylene with 1-15% by weight of C-C&#x3b1;-olefin and with 1-7% by weight of ethylene 2) 0 to 70 parts of an elastomeric polyolefin selected from the group consisting of: (a) a copolymer of ethylene with propylene and, optionally a diene, having an ethylene content of from 17 to 45 wt % and an propylene content from 55 to 83 wt %; (b) a copolymer of ethylene with a C-C&#x3b1;-olefin having an ethylene/C-C&#x3b1;-olefin weight ratio of from 29 to 86 wt % (C-NMR analysis) and having anw/n ratio of less than 3.5; and 3) 0-30 parts of a polymer of ethylene having a melting temperature over 120&#xb0; C. and intrinsic viscosity of from 2 to 6 dL/g; with the proviso that when the elastomeric polyolefin is present, the polymer of ethylene is at least 12 parts based on 100 parts of the crystalline random propylene copolymer (1) and that at least one of the layer made of the said polymer propylene composition is substantially free from random copolymers of propylene with 15 wt % or less of ethylene as the sole comonomer.

Pipe systems of polypropylene compositions

A polyolefin composition suitable for preparing films and sheets, comprising: (A) from 15 to 40% by weight of a crystalline copolymer of propylene with at least one alpha-olefin of formula HC&#x2550;CHR, where Ris H or a Clinear or branched alkyl, containing at least 90% by weight of propylene, having solubility in xylene at room temperature lower than 15% by weight; (B) from 60 to 85% by weight of an elastomeric fraction comprising: (1) a copolymer of propylene with ethylene, optionally containing 0.5 to 5% by weight of a diene, containing from 20 to 35% by weight ethylene, and having solubility in xylene at room temperature greater than 45% by weight, the intrinsic viscosity of the xylene soluble fraction ranging from 1.0 to 3.9 dl/g; and (2) a copolymer of ethylene with at least one alpha-olefin of formula HC&#x2550;CHR, where Ris a Clinear or branched alkyl, optionally containing 0.5 to 5% by weight of a diene, containing 15% to 40% by weight alpha-olefin, and having solubility in xylene at room temperature greater than 35% by weight, the intrinsic viscosity of the xylene soluble fraction ranging, from 1.0 to 3.0 dl/g; the (1)/(2) weight ratio ranging from 1:5 to 5:1. The polyolefin composition of the invention, preferably prepared by sequential polymerization in at least three stages, has a flexural modulus lower than 130 Mpa, shore D hardness lower than 40, and MFR &#x2267;1.5 g/10 min.

Polyolefin compositions having high fluidity

A polyolefin composition comprising: (A) from 8 to 25% by weight of a crystalline homopolymer or copolymer of propylene: (B) from 75 to 92% by weight of an elastomeric fraction comprising: (1) a first elastomeric copolymer of propylene with from 15 to 32% by weight at least one alpha-olefin of formula HC&#x2550;CHR, where R is H or a Clinear or branched alkyl, optionally containing 0.5 to 5% by weight of a diene, said first elastomeric copolymer containing alpha-olefin, and having solubility in xylene at room temperature greater than 50% by weight, the intrinsic viscosity of the xylene soluble fraction ranging from 3.0 to 5.0 dl/g; and (2) a second elastomeric copolymer of propylene with at least one alpha-olefin of formula HC&#x2550;CHR, where R is H or a Clinear or branched alkyl, optionally containing 0.5 to 5% by weight of a diene, said second elastomeric copolymer containing more than 32% up to 45% by weight alpha-olefin, and having solubility in xylene at room temperature greater than 80% by weight, the intrinsic viscosity of the xylene soluble fraction ranging from 4.0 to 6.5 dl/g; the (1)/(2) weight ratio ranging from 1:5 to 5:1.

Soft polyolefin compositions

Polyolefin compositions comprising (percent by weight): 1) 55-90% of a crystalline propylene homopolymer or copolymer containing up to 15% of ethylene and/or C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) and having values of MFR equal to or higher than 25 g/10 min; 2) 10-45% of a copolymer of ethylene with one or more C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) containing from 10 to 40% of said C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s); said compositions having values of MFR equal to or higher than 20 g/10 min, a total content of ethylene of 20% or more, a total content of C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) of 4.5% or more, a ratio of the total content of ethylene to the total content of C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) of 2.3 or more, a total fraction soluble in xylene at room temperature of less than 18 wt % and an intrinsic viscosity value of the fraction soluble in xylene at room temperature of 1.7 dl/g or less.

Propylene polymer compositions comprising (by weight): A) from 15% to 60% with C-Calpha-olefin(s), containing more than 10%, but less than 14%, of said C-Calpha-olefins (s); B) from 40% to 85% of a copolymer of propylene with C-Calpha-olefin(s), preferably butene, containing from 14% to 30% of said C-Calpha-olefin(s), and optionally from 0.5% to 3% of ethylene; provided that the total content of C-Calpha-olefin(s) in the propylene polymer composition be higher than 10%.
