A method and system that include receiving sensor data that is indicative of an operational status of a well construction equipment that is being utilized to construct a planned well that include receiving a well construction plan that includes information that is indicative of the planned well and the well construction equipment. The method and system additionally include accessing a database of operational sequences that are executable to be performed by the well construction equipment to construct a plurality of wells and selecting from the database an operational sequence to construct the planned well. The method and system further include electronically controlling the well construction equipment to autonomously perform the plurality of physical or mechanical operations of the selected operational sequence to drill at least one of: a selected portion of the planned well and a path along the selected portion of the planned well through a subterranean formation.

Supervisory control system for a well construction rig

An integrated well construction system (IWCS) operable for constructing a well via integrated control of integrated control devices that collectively control integrated subsystems of the IWCS. The IWCS includes an IWCS communication network, the integrated control devices (each directly connected with the IWCS communication network), the integrated subsystems, and a control workstation directly connected with the IWCS communication network and operable to control each of the integrated control devices to thereby control the integrated subsystems.

Integrated well construction system operations

Apparatus and methods for performing well construction control. An example apparatus may be or include a control system operable to control a well construction system for performing well construction operations at an oil/gas wellsite, wherein the well construction system includes multiple pieces of equipment. The control system may have a processor and memory storing a computer program code, a touchscreen operable via finger contact with the touchscreen by a human wellsite operator to enter control commands to control automated operation of one or more pieces of equipment, and a video output device operable to display information indicative of operational status of the well construction system.

Well construction workstation and control

An integrated well construction system (IWCS) operable for constructing a well via integrated control of integrated control devices that collectively control integrated subsystems of the IWCS. The IWCS includes an IWCS communication network, the integrated control devices (each directly connected with the IWCS communication network), the integrated subsystems, and a control workstation () directly connected with the IWCS communication network and operable to control each of the integrated control devices to thereby control the integrated subsystems.

Systems and methods for safe drill floor access. An example method includes commencing operation of a processing device to operate a system for maintaining safety of a human worker in a restricted area of a drill floor during drilling operations. The processing device may receive a presence detection signal and output a first stop control command to the equipment to cause the equipment to stop operating. The processing device may receive an entry request signal, output an entry request indicator via an output device to a human driller within a drill rig control center, receive an entry grant input from the human driller granting entry to the human worker to enter the restricted area, and output a second stop control command to the equipment located in the restricted area to cause the equipment to stop operating in response to the received entry grant input.

Safe drill floor access

A supervisory control system for a well construction rig operable to perform well construction operations to construct a planned well at a wellsite. The supervisory control system may be installable in association with the well construction rig. The supervisory control system may comprise a supervisory controller communicatively connectable with a central controller of a rig control system of the well construction rig. The rig control system may be communicatively connected with and operable to control well construction equipment of the well construction rig. The supervisory controller may be operable to control the well construction equipment via the rig control system to cause the well construction equipment to perform the well construction operations. The central controller may be operable as an I/O interface for matching inputs and outputs of the supervisory controller with corresponding inputs and outputs of at least one piece of the well construction equipment.

A system for use in a mineral extraction system includes a spinner assembly having a motor configured to drive rotation of a roller shaft. The spinner assembly also includes a roller non-rotatably coupled to the roller shaft and configured to contact a first tubular structure, and rotation of the roller is configured to cause rotation of the first tubular structure until the first tubular structure is spun into a second tubular structure. The spinner assembly further includes a detection wheel coupled to the roller shaft and configured to contact the first tubular structure, and the detection wheel is configured to rotate with the first tubular structure and to rotate independently of the roller. The spinner assembly further includes a sensor configured to detect rotation of the detection wheel.

Tubular rotation detection system and method

A closed-circuit television (CCTV) system for use at a well construction system to form a well at an oil/gas wellsite. The CCTV system includes a video output device and video cameras at the well construction system. A control system is communicatively connected with each video camera and the video output device. The control system receives video display settings from a human wellsite operator, receives the video signals from the video cameras, and automatically displays on the video output device one or more of the received video signals based on the video display settings.

Systems and methods for managing equipment in a workspace such as an oil rig are disclosed. Objects are given zones which are physically larger than the objects. A monitoring system is capable of monitoring the objects and the zones for each object. When zones intersect, a collision is possible and the monitoring system can take action to prevent the collision or mitigate damage in the case of a collision. Further, systems and methods for ensuring the moving components are handed-off properly from one support to another are disclosed.
