An apparatus for immersive audio communication including circuitry configured to: receive at least a first audio data stream and a second audio data stream, wherein at least one of the first and second audio stream includes a spatial audio stream to enable immersive audio during a communication; determine a type of each of the first and second audio streams to identify which of the received first and second audio data streams the spatial audio stream; process the second audio data stream with at least one parameter dependent on the determined type; and render the first audio data stream and the processed second audio data stream.

The application relates to an apparatus, method and computer program for representing a sound space for use in mediated reality applications. The apparatus including circuitry configured for: obtaining one or more values for one or more acoustic parameters for a plurality of locations within a sound space; and generating an image file representing the sound space where an intensity value for a pixel represents the value for an acoustic parameter at a location corresponding to the pixel such that the data in the image file enables the sound space to be rendered.

Efficient storage of multiple structured codebooks

A technique for encoding a multichannel audio encoding is provided that includes quantizing a set of first LP filter coefficients for an audio signal in a first channel using a predefined first quantizer; and quantizing a set of second LP filter coefficients for an audio signal in a second channel on the basis of the quantized set of first LP filter coefficients. The quantization of the set of second LP filter coefficients includes: deriving, on basis of the quantized set of first LP filter coefficients by using a predefined predictor, a set of predicted LP filter coefficients for the audio signal in said second channel, computing prediction error as a difference between respective LP coefficients of the set of second LP filter coefficients and the set of predicted LP filter coefficients, and quantizing the prediction error.

Encoding and decoding of multichannel or stereo audio signals

A method, apparatus and computer program including: obtaining a spatial audio signal from a plurality of microphones; dividing the obtained spatial audio signal into at least a first component and a second component; applying a first audio signal optimizing system to the first component and applying a second audio signal optimizing system to the second component; and enabling a signal including the optimized components to be provided to a speaker for rendering.

It is inter alia disclosed to determine a first quantized representation of an input vector, and to determine a second quantized representation of the input vector based on a codebook depending on the first quantized representation.

Vector quantization

Phase effect interference is determined at a listening location between signals from at least two audio objects; and a modified position is computed for at least one of the audio objects such that the determined phase effect interference at the listening location is altered as a result of the modified position. For each audio object for which the position is modified at least phase of at least one frequency component of the respective signal is adjusted in correspondence with the modified position so as to eliminate the determined phase effect interference. The signals from the at least two audio objects are formed after this adjusting; and then the formed signals are provided to a sound system comprising multiple audio transducers so as to render the formed signals at the listening position where the phase effect interference is eliminated during rendering.

Audio object adjustment for phase compensation in 6 degrees of freedom audio

A technique for audio encoding is provided. According to an example embodiment, the technique comprises deriving a first quantization error that is descriptive of an error resulting with a non-predictive quantization of an audio parameter of an audio signal segment, deriving a second quantization error that is descriptive of an error resulting with a predictive quantization of said audio parameter of said audio signal segment, determining whether said second quantization error exceeds said first quantization error by at least an adaptive margin that is dependent on the number of consecutive audio signal segments that precede said audio signal segment in which said audio parameter is provided quantized with said predictive quantization, providing said audio parameter of said audio segment quantized with said non-predictive quantization as part of an encoded audio signal at least in case the outcome of said determination is affirmative, and providing otherwise said audio parameter of said audio segment quantized with said predictive quantization as part of an encoded audio signal.

Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products are provided to indicate or automatically configure headphone channel orientation based on a physical orientation determination. An apparatus is provided that is configured to at least determine an orientation of the headphone device; analyze the determined orientation; and provide an indication of the determined orientation or adjust the output channel configuration of the apparatus for the headphone device. The apparatus may be further configured to determine the orientation of the headphone device based on at least one of: a head turn position; a direction of one or more audio signals; a direction of movement, wherein the movement is determined based on a determination of acceleration or trajectory of the headphone device; two or more compass data, wherein at least one compass is located in each of the apparatus and the headphone device; and a difference in characteristics of one or more audio signals.

Orientation free handsfree device

An approach is provided for efficiently capturing, processing, presenting, and/or associating audio objects with content items and geo-locations. A processing platform may determine a viewpoint of a viewer of at least one content item associated with a geo-location. Further, the processing platform and/or a content provider may determine at least one audio object associated with the at least one content item, the geo-location, or a combination thereof. Furthermore, the processing platform may process the at least one audio object for rendering one or more elements of the at least one audio object based, at least in part, on the viewpoint.
