A computer implemented method includes determining a first level of risk based on a context of source code as stored. A second level of risk is determined based on a change history of the source code. A third level of risk is determined by assessing a nature of changes to the source code. The first, second, and third levels of risk are combined to generate an indication of trust in the source code.

Source code trustworthiness assessment

A computer implemented method includes detecting a current workstream of development tasks associated with a software development project. An activity attempting to access a resource is detected. Access rights to the resource are determined with respect to the activity as a function of the current workstream of development tasks. Access to the resource is controlled in accordance with the access rights.

Task based access rights control

Embodiments relate to incorporating supplemental information into a code editor's editing view that may make the code more understandable to those not familiar or comfortable with the code. The editor receives adornments that may be translations or semantic equivalents of constructs already in the code. The editor adds the adornments to an editing view for editing the source code. The adornments are inserted into lines of the source code displayed in the editing view and have some of the appearance of the source code in the editing view. The adornments are passive with respect to the source code; they are not necessarily compiled or saved. The adornments may be tokens provided by a compiler and/or an integrated development environment. The editor may apply heuristics or rules to determine which adornments are to be used and where they will be inserted.

API description techniques are described for consumption by dynamically-typed languages. In one or more implementations, machine-readable data is parsed to locate descriptions of one or more application programming interfaces (APIs). The descriptions of the one or more application programming interfaces are projected into an alternate form that is different than a form of the machine-readable data.

An application assistance system is described herein that provides an on-demand canonical user interface that can quickly allow a user to learn the actions exposed by an application, such as a web site. The application assistance system is a pattern and method for guiding the user of a site/application through a set of possible actions on a page by providing a well-known invocation of hints. These hints show the actions/tasks that a user can take on a page by visually spotlighting a specific area of the page and providing a tooltip or pop-up dialog that describes the action/task the user is trying to complete while preserving the data the user has already entered. The system also provides a task pane that supports randomly accessing various steps of a task the system is explaining. Thus, the system makes it much easier for a user to learn to use an application.

Interactive application assistance, such as for web applications

A system and method facilitating attributed debugging is provided that facilitates a developer of an object to determine what information a debugger displays. An expression evaluator is provided. The system can further include, optionally, a debuggee (e.g., process to be debugged). The debuggee includes attribute(s) which are employed by the debugger to facilitate debugging of the application&#x2014;'attributed debugging.' This allows a developer of a type to declaratively indicate how information is to be displayed during debugging. Attributed debugging thus allows the manipulation of the view of data in the debugger by allowing the type author annotations with which they can control.

The present invention provides an extensible mechanism for displaying object data in a debug environment in a suitable display format. In one aspect, a system is provided for computerized debug environments. The system includes a display component that presents data at a debug interface, wherein the data is associated with a first representation in a debug object and as at least a second representation at the debug interface. A communications component transmits the data from the debug object to the display component and also transforms the data from the first representation to the second representation.

Visualizer system and methods for debug environment

A system and method facilitating attributed debugging is provided that facilitates a developer of an object to determine what information a debugger displays. An expression evaluator is provided. A debuggee (e.g., process to be debugged) can include a display proxy attribute that identifies a display proxy type associated with an object. When a request to examine the object is received by the expression evaluator, the expression can create the display proxy associated with the object, examine the display proxy, and provide information associated with the display proxy in response to the request to examine the object.

A user interface is provided that exposes items such as developer tasks, commands, property settings, and other related information to a user. The user interface may be invoked in a number of development interfaces such as, for example, a designer or an editor. The user interface may be either an object bound interface or an action triggered interface. An object bound interface exposes a set of items that are associated with a corresponding object. An action triggered interface exposes a set of items that are associated with a corresponding triggering action. In addition to enumerating developer tasks, the user interface may provide a direct link to other interfaces that facilitate task execution.
