The injection system () includes a storage volume () of pressurized fuel supplied by a high-pressure pump () along a delivery pipe (); and a control unit () for defining the required fuel pressure of the storage volume () as a function of the operating conditions of the engine (). The regulating device includes a bypass solenoid valve (); and a pair of non-return valves () connected antiparallel and located between the bypass valve () and the storage volume (). A servo valve () for fuel control is provided with an actuator () and a valve body (), which is set in a fixed position and has a stem () that extends along a longitudinal axis () and defines an internal passage (); said internal passage () has at least two radial channels (), which give out into an outlet through an outer lateral surface () of the stem () and have respective first portions () of calibrated length and cross section; said first portions () are followed by respective second portions of larger diameter; the servo valve () is provided with an open/close element (), which is coupled to the outer lateral surface () of the stem () substantially in a fluid-tight way and is axially movable under the action of the actuator () for opening/closing the internal passage () of the stem (); in the closing position, the open/close element () is subject to a zero axial resultant force by the pressure of the fuel.

The injection system has a high-pressure pump () having at least one pumping element () operated reciprocatingly to perform an intake stroke and a delivery stroke. Each pumping element () has a corresponding intake valve () communicating with an intake conduit () supplied by a low-pressure pump (). The intake conduit () is fitted with an on-off solenoid valve () controlled by a control unit () asynchronously with respect to the intake of each pumping element (). And the control unit () may control the on-off solenoid valve () by means of frequency-modulated and/or duty-cycle-modulated control signals (A, C).

Fuel injection system comprising a high-pressure variable-delivery pump

A fuel-injection system (&#x2033;) for an internal-combustion engine (), of the type provided with compressor mechanism () for making available the fuel at a high pressure to an storage volume (), and a plurality of injectors (&#x2033;) fluidically connected to the storage volume () for taking in the fuel from the storage volume () and injecting it into respective combustion chambers () of the engine (). The compressor mechanism () advantageously generates at least two distinct delivery lines (), which are connected to respective distinct fractions () of the storage volume ().

Injection system for an internal-combustion engine

The pump () is provided with a body () having a compartment (), and with at least one pumping element () that moves in a cylinder () in communication with the compartment (), to raise the pressure of the fuel. The pump () comprises fluid-supply means () for delivering the fuel to the pumping element (), and an inlet mouth () made in the body () and supplied with the fuel coming directly from an external source (). The inlet mouth () is fluidically connected to the compartment () to supply it with the fuel in order to lubricate and/or cool the pump () itself. Set between the inlet mouth () and the compartment () are: a non-return valve () to prevent in any case the pumping elements () from sucking the fuel from the compartment () of the body (); and a flow regulator (), which allows an amount of fuel to pass such as to enable proper lubrication and cooling of the compartment () and of the parts present in the compartment (). The fluid-supply means () comprise at least one further inlet mouth () made in the body () and fluidically connected with the pumping element () by means of pipes ().

The high-pressure pump () comprises a number of pumping elements () actuated in reciprocating motion through corresponding suction and delivery strokes. Each pumping element () is provided with a corresponding intake valve (), in communication with an intake pipe (), supplied by a low-pressure pump (). Arranged on the intake pipe () is a shut-off valve () controlled in a choppered way in synchronism with an initial part (') of the suction stroke of each pumping element ().

High-pressure variable-flow-rate pump for a fuel-injection system

A fuel-injection system () for an internal-combustion engine (), of the type provided with compressor mechanism () for making available the fuel at a high pressure to an storage volume (), and a plurality of injectors () fluidically connected to the storage volume () for taking in the fuel from the storage volume () and injecting it into respective combustion chambers () of the engine (). The storage volume () is advantageously split into a plurality of distinct elementary storage volumes () fluidically connected to one another.

The injection system () includes a pump () for supplying high-pressure fuel to a storage volume, defined for example by a common rail (), for supplying a number of injectors (). The pump () has at least one reciprocating pumping member () with a sinusoidal compression stroke (). The injection system () includes at least one bypass solenoid valve () controlled by a control unit () having a chopper unit () for producing multiple deliveries () at each compression stroke (), so that the pressure in the common rail () is substantially level. Each pumping member () may be associated with a corresponding bypass solenoid valve ().

Storage-volume fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine

A fuel tank for motor vehicles, for example an LPG fuel tank, contains inside it at least one electrical component and has a wall or a plate bearing at least one connector for connection of the electrical component with an electrical line external to the tank. The electrical connector has a body made of synthetic material or of elastomer material directly moulded on one or more conductor pins so as to guarantee hermetic sealing of the tank even in the presence of a pressure jump between the internal cavity of the tank and the external environment. In the case where the body of the connector is made of synthetic material, it bears seats for seal rings made of elastomer material. In the case where it is made of elastomer material, it guarantees directly the function of tightness. In either case, there are provided means for exerting an axial compressive force on the part that performs the tightness function.

Connector member for electrical connections through a wall of a fuel tank, particularly for the LPG fuel tank of a motor vehicle

In a tank for liquid fuel, particularly a tank for LPG in a system for supply of LPG to the internal-combustion engine of a motor vehicle, the level-sensor device comprises a floating member guided so as to move in a substantially vertical direction within the tank according to the variations of level, and transducer means consisting of an aligned series of reed relays that are activated selectively by one or more permanent magnets carried by the floating member.

Level-sensor device for a liquid-fuel tank, particularly for a system for supplying LPG to an internal-combustion engine

An LPG fuel tank for motor vehicles is provided, inside, with a support, on which there can be installed in a rapid way a pump assembly including a supply pump and the corresponding electric actuating motor. Preferably, the support is also used for installing a level-sensor assembly within the tank.
