In a method for enriching the exhaust gases of a combustion engine with unburnt hydrocarbon engine operating conditions are monitored and in-cylinder post injection of unburnt hydrocarbon into one predetermined cylinder of at least two cylinders connected to an exhaust manifold is performed when the monitored engine operating conditions equal predetermined engine operating conditions. The predetermined engine operating conditions are set for resulting in a substantially zero flow of the post-injected hydrocarbon to an EGR circuit for the specific design of the engine in operation.

Method for enriching exhaust gases with unburnt hydrocarbon

An internal combustion, compression ignition engine for use with a pressurized low viscosity fuel includes an engine power cylinder with its associated gas flow path, a valve system for opening fluid communication between the engine power cylinder and the gas flow path, and an engine management system (EMS). The engine management system is adapted to provide a pre-starting mode in which an open fluid communication between the engine power cylinder and the gas flow path is established in such a manner that any fuel present inside said engine power cylinder is prevented from reaching the fuel ignition temperature for the fuel.

Internal combustion engine for use with a pressurized low viscosity fuel

An EGR mixer arrangement for mixing gas into the intake air of a turbocharged internal combustion engine is provided. The arrangement includes an inlet port with connection for a branch pipe, which with an insertion section opens out into the inlet port. The insertion section forms a diffuser vane with a surface which is positively double-bent in the direction of flow of the intake air and which extends in a curved shape in the flow direction of the inlet port.

Exhaust gas recirculation mixer for a turbo-charged internal combustion engine

Method and arrangement for enhancing exhaust gas recirculation efficiency on a combustion engine by providing a combustion engine having an exhaust system in fluid communication, via at least one juncture, with an exhaust gas recirculation system and locating a reflector in the exhaust system downstream of the at least one juncture. The reflector is adapted to reflect at least a portion of exhaust gas pressure pulses emitting from the combustion engine thereby causing a reflected pressure pulse to occur upstream of the reflector, and deflecting at least a portion of the reflected pressure pulse into the exhaust gas recirculation system thereby enhancing the efficiency of the exhaust gas recirculation system.
