A device having: one or more substrates in an enclosure having an inlet and an outlet; a template directed molecular imprinted material on the substrates; and a heater to heat the material. A method of: providing the above device including a sensor coupled to the outlet; flowing a gas though the device; heating the material; and flowing any vapor evolved from the material into the sensor.

Hybrid preconcentrator for detection of materials

A composition is provided having cylindrically shaped metal or metal-coated particles and a polymer latex dispersion. A coating is provided having cylindrically shaped metal or metal-coated particles and a polymer matrix formed from a latex dispersion. The particles form a continuous, conductive network. A method of electromagnetic shielding is provided having the steps of providing the above composition, applying the composition to a surface, and drying the applied composition.

Waterborn coating containing microcylindrical conductors

Displacement assays, under non-equilibrium conditions, are performed by flowing a liquid sample through a membrane having binding elements with binding sites saturated with a labelled form of the analyte. Analyte in the sample displaces, under non-equilibrium conditions, the labelled form of the analyte from the membrane. The displaced labelled form of the analyte may then be detected.

Displacement assay on a porous membrane

Target moiety is detected by (a) providing an antibody specific to the target, (b) saturating the binding sites of the antibody with a labelled form of the target, (c) flowing a liquid containing the target past the saturated antibody, thereby (d) allowing the target to displace the labelled antigen, and (e) detecting the displaced labelled antigen with a detector for the label. This assay is performed by a flow immunosensor comprising: a liquid flowing through the immunosensor for moving a sample through the immunosensor; a sample receiver for introducing the sample to the liquid stream; a flow controller for moving the liquid stream through the immunosensor; an exchanger connected to the sample receiving area in which the sample is brought in contact with labelled antigens of the target and where any target present is allowed to displace the labelled antigen; a detection apparatus connected to the exchanger for detecting any labelled antigen which is released; and a disposal means connected to the detection apparatus for disposing of or collecting of waste coming from the detection apparatus.

Flow immunosensor apparatus

A method of detecting a target moiety comprising the steps of (a) providing an antibody specific to the target, (b) saturating the binding sites of the antibody with a labelled form of the target, (c) flowing a liquid containing the target past the saturated antibody, thereby (d) allowing the target to displace the labelled antigen, and (e) detecting the displaced labelled antigen with a detector for the label. Also, the invention is accomplished by a flow immunosensor comprising: a liquid flowing through the immunosensor for moving a sample through the immunosensor; a receiving means for introducing the sample to the liquid stream; a flow control means for moving the liquid stream through the immunosensor; an exchanger connected to the sample receiving means in which the sample is brought in contact with labelled antigens of the target and whereby any target present is allowed to displace the labelled antigen; a detection apparatus connected to the exchanger for detecting any labelled antigen which is released; and a disposal means connected to the detection apparatus for disposing of or collecting of waste coming from the detection apparatus.

Flow immunosensor method and apparatus

Ligand-label conjugates which are an oligopeptide of 5 to 100 amino acid residues, bonded to a ligand or receptor, which contain a plurality of chemiluminescent or fluorescent labels and a plurality of polyoxoanions of sulfur or phosphorus are useful for immunoassays. Such conjugates are hydrophilic and exhibit very low nonspecific binding, thereby significantly increasing the signal to background ratio in immunoassays.
