A tool fastening mechanism has a housing , in which a clamping opening is embodied for receiving a tapering tool shaft clamping end of a tool part . The clamping opening tapers inward in the introduction direction of the clamping end of a tool part , and furthermore the tapering sides are inclined toward one another in a plane extending perpendicular to the introduction direction, as a result of which the opening has a trapezoidal cross section, and the length of this cross section decreases away from the orifice of the clamping opening . The housing furthermore has a transverse opening , which intersects the clamping opening and in which a locking pin is received. Upon introduction of a tool into the fastening mechanism, a tapering edge of the pin comes into engagement with a front edge of an oblong hole , embodied in the clamping edge of the tool part , and the resultant engagement action draws the clamping end deeper into the clamping opening , while the pin is driven farther into the transverse opening . The combination of the double tapering of the clamping opening and the longitudinal locking accomplished by the locking pin makes it possible to effectively restrict all six degrees of freedom of the tool part, within the production tolerances attainable by conventional mass-production methods.

A surface for a metal implant has a coarse structure of elevations and depressions, with the surface being permeated by a network of protruding ribs which form nodes and interstices or meshes having an interstice width of 2 mm to 0.4 mm, while the depressions represent sections of spherical cavities. The nodes of the ribs can protrude the furthest like mountain peaks, whereas the ribs which connect two nodes each form a lower lying saddle if the spherical cavities penetrate one another slightly. An automatic blood sampling device is provided with a housing (12, 14, 18, 20), a reciprocable shaft (50) disposed in the housing (12, 14, 18, 20), and a lancet (40) operatively coupled to the shaft (50). The lancet (40) is movable between a retracted position in which the lancet (40) is disposed within the housing (12, 14, 18, 20) and an extended position in which the lancet (40) extends outside of the housing (12, 14, 18, 20). The blood sampling device includes means for retaining the lancet (40) in its retracted position, means (51) for causing the lancet (40) to automatically move from its retracted position to its extended position, and means for generating a reduced internal pressure within an area in the housing (12, 14, 18, 20) as the lancet (40) moves from its retracted position to its extended position to facilitate drawing blood from a skin puncture to be made by the lancet (40) into an interior portion of the housing (12, 14, 18, 20), the internal pressure being less than the ambient pressure outside of the housing (12, 14, 18, 20) of the sampling device.

A sensor dispensing instrument is adapted to receive a generally circular sensor pack containing a plurality of blood glucose sensors. Each of the sensors are disposed in sensor cavities, each of which is in fluid communication with a corresponding desiccant cavity and has a support wall that assists in directing the sensor as its being ejected from the cavity. The sensor pack is loaded on an indexing disk in the instrument such that when a slide actuator on the instrument is moved toward a testing position, a feed mechanism engaged by the slide actuator moves a knife blade thereon toward one of the sensor cavities. The knife blade pierces a portion of a foil covering the sensor cavity and engages the sensor disposed in the cavity to thereby eject the sensor from the sensor cavity. The continued sliding of the slide actuator toward its testing position results in the sensor being completely ejected from the sensor cavity and disposed in a testing position with a testing end of the sensor projecting from the instrument. Once the blood analyzing test is completed, the slide actuator is moved in the opposite direction towards its standby position. As the slide actuator is moved away from its testing position, the indexing disk with the sensor pack thereon is rotated so that the next one of sensor cavities is positioned so that the sensor therein can be used for the next blood glucose test that is to be performed. The instrument includes circuitry to obtain test data from the sensor pack and to display testing data.

The invention is directed to a gas-heatable appliance for personal use as, for example, a curling iron, a curling brush, a hair dryer, an epilating appliance, a domestic appliance, or the like, including a fuel gas reservoir, a combustion chamber, and a valve assembly disposed between the fuel gas reservoir and the combustion chamber for controlling and/or regulating the amount of fuel gas supplied, in particular in dependence upon temperature. There are further provided a valve housing (4) with a gas passageway (5, 15, 16) and a sealing element (6) associated with the gas passageway (5, 15, 16), as well as an actuator (7) for actuating the sealing element (6). The element is configured as a control member actuatable by a user and/or as a temperature-responsive actuator (7). In this arrangement, the sealing element (6) is actuated directly by the actuator (7).

An apparatus for welding a reinforcing member to a bag-like device or contraceptive device is disclosed. The apparatus includes at least one hollow mandrel. The hollow mandrel has an outer surface with an annular groove for holding the reinforcing member. The apparatus has a means for applying a closed end of the bag-like device into the hollow mandrel and an open end of the bag-like device over the hollow mandrel at the outer surface with the annular groove for holding the reinforcing member. The apparatus also includes a welding device for welding the reinforcing member to the bag-like device. A method for welding the reinforcing member to a bag-like device is also disclosed.

An apparatus for welding a reinforcing member to a bag-like device or contraceptive device is disclosed. The apparatus includes at least one hollow mandrel. The hollow mandrel has an outer surface with an annular groove for holding the reinforcing member.
