An illustrative hearing system may include an optical waveguide at least partially positioned within an ear canal of a user and having a sensing region located between a first end and a second end of the optical waveguide. A light source may be configured to emit light into the optical waveguide at the first end, such that a first portion of the light may exit the optical waveguide at the sensing region and be absorbed by cerumen within the ear canal. A detector may be configured to detect a second portion of the light that exits the optical waveguide at the second end. A processing unit may be configured to determine, based on the second portion of the light detected by the detector and the light emitted by the light source, a glucose value representative of a glucose concentration in the cerumen.

Hearing device, hearing device-based systems and methods for monitoring glucose

A method of processing sensor data generated in a hearing device is disclosed, the hearing device comprising a BTE housing configured to be worn behind an ear of a user and an ITE housing configured to be at least partially inserted into an ear canal of the ear. The method may include receiving, from a movement sensor included in the BTE housing, BTE housing movement data indicative of movements of the BTE housing; receiving, from an ear canal sensor included in the ITE housing, ear canal sensor data affected by movements of an ear canal wall, characterized by determining a correlation between the BTE housing movement data and at least part of the ear canal sensor data; and separating, based on the correlation, information about movements of the ear canal wall relative to the BTE housing from at least part of the ear canal sensor data.

A hearing device configured to be worn at an ear of a user may include a sensor unit configured to provide sensor data, the sensor unit comprising a sound detector configured to provide sound data included in the sensor data; and a processor configured to determine a physiological parameter from the sensor data, the physiological parameter indicative of a physiological property of the user. The processor is configured to determine whether the physiological parameter fulfills a condition, and provide, depending on whether the physiological parameter fulfills the condition, output data based on the sensor data.

Hearing device for providing physiological information, and method of its operation

The disclosure relates to a hearing system including a first hearing device configured to be worn at a first ear of a user and a second hearing device configured to be worn at a second ear of the user. The first hearing device includes a first physiological sensor configured to provide sensor data indicative of a physiological property of the user and the second hearing device includes a second physiological sensor configured to provide sensor data indicative of the same physiological property as the sensor data provided by the first physiological sensor. A processing unit may be configured to control the first and second physiological sensor to alternatingly provide the sensor data in subsequent time intervals.

Binaural hearing system for providing sensor data indicative of a physiological property, and method of its operation

Hearing device for identifying a sequence of movement features, and method of its operation

The disclosed technology generally relates to a hearing device configured to detect tapping based on input from at least two sensors of the hearing device. The tapping can relate to a tapping gesture that includes a single tap or double tapping. In response to the single or double tap, the hearing device can perform an operation to modify the device (e.g., change the mode, change, or modify a setting, provide a sound, or perform a task). The first sensor can be an accelerometer configured to detect a change in acceleration of the hearing device and the second sensor can include a photodiode to detect a change in distance between the hearing device and the ear with the hearing device. The disclosed technology can be implemented in a method and comprises a computer-readable medium storing instructions to perform the method.

Tap detection

A hearing device configured to be worn at an ear of a user may include a sensor unit configured to provide sensor data, the sensor unit comprising a biometric sensor configured to provide biometric data included in the sensor data; and a processor configured to determine a physiological parameter from the sensor data, the physiological parameter indicative of a physiological property of the user. The processor is configured to determine whether the physiological parameter fulfills a condition, and provide, depending on whether the physiological parameter fulfills the condition, output data based on the sensor data, the output data including at least part of the biometric data and/or information derived from at least part of the biometric data different from the physiological parameter.

An exemplary hearing device configured to be worn by a user includes a microphone and a processor. The microphone detects an audio signal. The processor is configured to determine that the audio signal includes own voice content representative of a voice of the user and determine that an environmental noise level within the audio signal is below a threshold The processor is further configured to apply, based on the environmental noise level being below the threshold, a biomarker feature analysis heuristic to the own voice content.

Systems and methods for biomarker analysis on a hearing device

An exemplary hearing device includes a first sensor, a second sensor, an audio processing component, and a power management processor. The power management processor may be configured to determine, while the hearing device is in a first low power mode, that the first sensor detects a first state change associated with the hearing device, direct, based on the first sensor detecting the first state change, the hearing device to enter a second low power mode in which the second sensor is active and the audio processing component is inactive, determine, while the hearing device is in the second low power mode, that the second sensor detects a second state change associated with the hearing device, and direct, based on the second sensor detecting the second state change, the hearing device to enter a full power mode in which the audio processing component is active.
