A system and method is discloses for remotely displaying and creating handwritten information in real time. A first writing/display surface is used in conjunction with a stylus to scribe graphical images as well as text onto the surface for sharing the scribed information with other users. Once the handwritten information is created by touching the stylus to the first writing/display surface it is immediately sent to a remote second writing/display surface. A user of the second writing/display surface receives and views the transmitted handwritten information and then can transmit information by touching the stylus to the writing/display surface. The present invention, allows users to view the same workspace and make modifications to the displayed texts and graphics in real time.

Smart collaborative whiteboard integrated with telephone or IP network

A system and method are provided for providing Internet addresses corresponding to an electronic signal, such as a video or audio program, to a user. The system includes a receiver for receiving at least one electronic signal, where the electronic signal includes one or more Internet addresses embedded therein. A decoder in communication with the receiver is operable to extract the one or more Internet addresses from the electronic signal. The system further includes a processor in communication with the decoder. The processor compiles a historical list of the one or more Internet addresses extracted from the electronic signal, and includes memory for storing the historical list. A web browser connected to the processor is operable to present the historical list of Internet addresses to the user.

System and method for providing internet address corresponding to an electronic signal to a user

A system and method for selecting programs based on the past selection history of an identified user that allows the identified user to &ldquo;surf&rdquo; directly between desired programs. The system includes a head-end server operable to receive program signals from a programming source, and a user input apparatus, such as a remote controller, which is operable to generate an input signal indicating the identity of a user and an input signal indicating a degree of a selection preference. The system further includes at least one set-top box having a program receiver to receive the program signals from the head-end server, and a user input receiver for receiving the input signals from the user input apparatus. The set-top box also includes a memory to store the past selection history of the identified user, and a processor for determining which channel is currently assigned to a program corresponding to the degree of the selection preference of the identified user for the time period the input signal indicating the degree of the selection preference is received. The set-top box further includes a tuner operable for automatically tuning the program receiver to the determined channel. If the program assigned to the determined channel is not acceptable to the user, the process may be repeated for a different selection preference or for a different degree of the same selection preference.
