A positive electrode including a plurality of electroactive particles defining an electroactive layer is provided. A first lithium-containing coating is disposed on one or more surfaces of the electroactive layer. The first lithium-containing coating covers between about 30% and about 50% of a total exposed surface area of the electroactive layer. A second lithium-containing coating encompasses at least one electroactive particle of the plurality of electroactive particles. The second lithium-containing coating covers between about 95% and about 100% of the at least one electroactive particle. The first and second lithium-containing coatings each have a thickness between about 0.2 nm and about 5 nm. The positive electrode further includes an electrolyte additive that aids in the formation of a first passivation layer on exposed surfaces of the first lithium-containing coating, and a second passivation layer on exposed surfaces of the second lithium-containing coating.

A climate control device includes a radiant heater for radiating heat and a porous material attached to the radiant heater. The porous material desorbs a plurality of water molecules, in response to the porous material receiving heat from the radiant heater and raising a temperature of the water molecules in the porous material to a boiling temperature threshold. The porous material adsorbs the water molecules in response to the temperature of the water molecules falling below the boiling temperature threshold.

Climate control device

A heat pipe is provided for cooling an electronic component of a printed circuit board. The heat pipe includes a tube having an inner diameter surface defining a bore, with the tube having first and second ends along the bore. The heat pipe further includes a sorbent material coated onto the inner diameter surface of the tube, a first liquid contained within the bore, and a second liquid adsorbed by the sorbent material. The second liquid has a second boiling temperature that is higher than a first boiling temperature of the first liquid. The first liquid vaporizes into a first vapor, in response to the tube receiving heat from the electronic component and the first liquid reaching the first boiling temperature. The second liquid is desorbed from the sorbent material and vaporizes into a second vapor in response to the second liquid reaching the second boiling temperature.

The matrical sorbent material is configured to release the flame retardant material upon exposure to an elevated temperature, e.g., a temperature that is greater than 300&#xb0; C. in one embodiment.

The flexible MOF material is configured to adsorb hydrocarbon vapor when controlled to the first state and configured to desorb the hydrocarbon vapor when controlled to the second state.

A heat dissipation device for an electronics cooling system having an electronic component includes a housing that defines a chamber. The device further includes a first liquid, which is contained within the chamber and has a first boiling temperature. The device further includes a sorbent material immersed within the first liquid. The device further includes a second liquid, which is adsorbed by the sorbent material and has a second boiling temperature that is above the first boiling temperature. The first liquid vaporizes into a first vapor, in response to the first liquid reaching the first boiling temperature. The second liquid is desorbed from the sorbent material, in response to the second liquid and the sorbent material reaching a desorption temperature that is below the second boiling temperature. The second liquid vaporizes into a second vapor, in response to the second liquid reaching the second boiling temperature.

This includes a device for capturing fuel vapor on-vehicle that includes a canister device having a first port that is fluidly coupled to a head space portion of a fuel tank. The canister device defines a chamber that is fluidly coupled in series between the first port and a second port. A first Metal Organic Framework (MOF) material is disposed in the chamber to adsorb fuel vapor constituents.

The storage tank includes a liner defining an internal compartment; a boss coupled to the liner; an interlayer covering a portion of the boss and the liner, the interlayer being non-pyrolyzed and including an interconnected web and pores having a diameter greater than the diameter of a hydrogen molecule and less than or equal to about 2 nm; and an outer shell including a carbon fiber reinforced composite, the outer shell covering the interlayer, except for an interlayer end that is in contact with the boss, so that the interlayer end defines an interlayer ring that is exposed to an external environment. The storage tank is configured so that when gas diffuses through the liner to the interlayer, the interlayer channels the gas out of the exposed interlayer ring. Methods of fabricating the storage tank are also provided.

Method and system for operating a fuel vapor capture system of an air intake system of an internal combustion engine

A hybrid separator for an electrochemical cell is provided, along with methods of making the hybrid separator. The hybrid separator includes a first metal-organic framework comprising copper and having a plurality of first pores and a second distinct metal-organic framework comprising indium or zinc and having a plurality of second pores. The hybrid separator is capable of adsorbing one or more lithium salts in at least one of the plurality of first pores or the plurality of second pores so as to be ionically conductive. The hybrid separator may have a conductivity greater than or equal to about 0.1 mS/cm to less than or equal to about 1 mS/cm and is substantially free of any polymeric binder.
