Various embodiments of the teachings herein include methods for determining the state of an electrical switchgear assembly. The method may include: measuring an electric current and a voltage dropped across the switchgear assembly; ascertaining a time interval of an arc occurring during a switching operation; comparing the ascertained time interval to a reference value specific to the switchgear assembly; measuring a voltage profile during the time interval; and comparing the voltage profile with a reference voltage profile. The time interval begins when the value of the measured voltage exceeds a first threshold value. The time interval ends when the value of the current intensity falls below a second threshold value.

The present disclosure relates to DC transmission. Some embodiments may include a device for DC transmission comprising: a superconducting transmission line including a superconducting conductor element; and a cooling device for cooling an inner region of the transmission line with a fluid coolant to a temperature below a critical temperature of the superconducting conductor element. The superconducting transmission line may comprise a vacuum-insulated sleeve thermally isolating the inner region of the transmission line from a warmer outer surrounding area. The cooling device may comprise a feed device feeding coolant at an end region of the transmission line into the inner region of the transmission line. The transmission line may be free of internally arranged feed devices for feeding coolant at locations away from the end region.

Various embodiments include a switch cell comprising: a semiconductor switch element; a micro-electromechanical switch element; and an electronic actuation circuit. The semiconductor switch element and the micro-electromechanical switch element are connected in parallel. In a switch-off process for the switch cell, the semiconductor switch element is switched off after the micro-electromechanical switch element is switched off.

The teachings thereof may be embodied in devices for cooling a rotor, which rotates about an axis, wherein the rotor is supported by a central rotor shaft. For example, in a cooling device, the rotor may be supported by a central rotor shaft and comprise a hollow space in the interior of the rotor shaft for accommodating coolant. It may include a first coolant line extending radially outwardly from the hollow space and an annular first distribution line fluidically connected to the hollow space via the first coolant line.
