Provided herein are polyamide compositions having a combination of specific physical properties that enable the molding of articles comprising at least one annular connector or barb of specific dimensions for attachment of hoses to the article. Further provided are processes to prepare these compositions and articles prepared from the compositions.

Polyamide compositions

A polyamide composition comprising: (a) 30 to about 60 weight percent of at least one semi-aromatic polyamide comprising: (i) 63 to about 70 mole percent hexamethylene terephthalamide repeat units; and (ii) about 30 to about 37 mole percent hexamethylene decanamide or hexamethylene dodecanamide repeat units; (b) 3 to 30 weight percent of at least one flame retardant; (c) 0.02 to 0.65 weight percent of a lubricant; (d) 5 to 50 weight percent of at least one inorganic reinforcing agent; (e) 0 to 5 weight percent of a nucleant; and (f) 0.2 to 10 weight percent of at least one flame retardant synergist. Such compositions exhibit a combination of a molding cooling time of less than or equal to 9 seconds; a reflow peak temperature of at least 270° C.; and a flammability of V-0 measured according to UL-94 flammability test.

Flame retardant polyamide compositions

Disclosed is a polyamide composition including at least one semi-aromatic copolyamide, said semi-aromatic copolyamide consisting essentially of about 25 to about 55 mole percent repeat units of the formula&#x2014;C(O)(CH)C(O)NHCHArCHNH&#x2014;&#x2003;&#x2003;(I)and about 45 to about 75 mole percent repeat units of the formula&#x2014;C(O)(CH)C(O)NH(CH)NH&#x2014;&#x2003;&#x2003;(II)wherein m is 8, 10, and/or 12, n is 6, 10 and/or 12 and Ar is a meta-substituted benzene ring; and said polyamide has a melting point equal to or less than 225&#xb0; C.; and 0.25 to 20 weight percent of one or more polyhydroxy polymer(s) having a number average molecular weight of at least 2000 and selected from the group consisting of ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer and poly(vinyl alcohol). Also disclosed are molded or extruded articles including the polyamide composition.

Polyamide compositions with improved salt resistance and heat stability

Multi-layered co-extruded tubes are provided that include an outer layer including a first semiaromatic semicrystalline polyamide having a melt temperature of about 240&#xb0; C. to 280&#xb0; C., and a thermal stabilizer; and an inner layer including a second semiaromatic semicrystalline polyamide having a glass transition equal to or greater than 100&#xb0; C.
