A headliner system includes a plurality of segments connected together and outlining a central opening and a central section received in the central opening. The central section is selected from a group of central sections consisting of a multisection panel incorporating an overhead airbag grid system, a panel incorporating a fold down display panel and a panel incorporating a pull down divider.

This disclosure details accessory rail systems for securing various accessory devices to vehicles that are equipped with either standard roofs or roofs with one or more roof openings. An exemplary accessory rail system includes an accessory rail that is configured to simultaneously mount one or more interior accessories and/or one or more exterior accessories relative to the vehicle. A trim piece may be secured to the accessory rail, and an airbag curtain may be secured to either the accessory rail, the trim piece, or a roof frame rail.

A sun visor assembly is provided incorporating a magnetic detention system. That assembly includes a sun visor body, a ferromagnetic element held in that body and a permanent magnet in a headliner of the vehicle. The permanent magnet and the ferromagnetic element are aligned so that the body is attracted toward the headliner and positively held in a home position adjacent the headliner.

A vehicle proximity switch and method are provided having lockout control for controlling a movable panel on a vehicle. The switch includes a proximity sensor such, as a capacitive sensor, installed in a vehicle and providing a sense activation field. The proximity switch also includes control circuitry for processing the sense activation field to sense user activation of the switch and controls functionality when one or more lockout sensors are activated.

A control system for controlling a position of a window and method thereof are provided. The control system includes a cover at least partially adapted to have a trough, the cover having a interior side and an exterior side, and a first proximity sensor adjacent to the interior side that is configured to detect an object within the first portion of the trough. The control system further includes a second proximity sensor adjacent to the interior side that is configured to detect the object within the second portion of the trough, and a processor in communication with the sensors, and configured to communicate a control signal to the window as a function of the detection of the sensors, wherein the control signal is based upon a most recent detection of the sensors when both sensors are activated within a first time period.
