The present invention pertains to a process for the manufacture of a porous membrane, said process comprising the following steps: (i) providing a composition [composition (F)] comprising: &#x2014;at least one fluoropolymer [polymer (F)] comprising recurring units derived from at least one (meth)acrylic monomer (MA) having formula (I) wherein: &#x2014;R, Rand R, equal to or different from each other, are independently selected from a hydrogen atom and a C-Chydrocarbon group, and &#x2014;Ris a hydrogen atom or a C-Chydrocarbon moiety comprising at least one functional group selected from a hydroxyl, a carboxyl, an epoxide, an ester and an ether group, and &#x2014;at least one poly(alkylene oxide) (PAO); (ii) processing said composition (F) to provide a film; (iii) treating the film so obtained with an aqueous composition to provide said porous membrane. The present invention also relates to films and compositions used in said process, to porous membranes obtained from said process and to use of said porous membranes as separators in Lithium-ion batteries, as filtration membranes or in biomedical applications. 

Process for manufacturing porous membranes

The invention relates to a process for the production of membranes based on ethylene/chlorotrifluoroethylene polymers having a melting temperature not exceeding 200&#xb0; C. The process relies on the diffusion induced phase separation of the ethylene/chlorotrifluoroethylene polymer from a solution and comprises the steps of providing a solution comprising an ethylene/chlorotrifluoroethylene polymer having a melting temperature not exceeding 200&#xb0; C. in a solvent; casting the polymer solution into a film; immersing the film in a non-solvent bath to precipitate the polymer. Membranes made of compositions comprising an ethylene/chlorotrifluoroethylene polymer having a melting temperature not exceeding 200&#xb0; C. and at least one second polymer are also disclosed.

Process for the preparation of ethylene/chlorotrifluoroethylene polymer membranes

The present invention pertains to an aqueous composition comprising: (A) an aqueous latex comprising at least one vinylidene fluoride (VDF) polymer [polymer (F)] comprising recurring units derived from vinylidene fluoride (VDF) and at least one (meth)acrylic monomer (MA) having formula (I) here below: wherein: &#x2014;R, Rand R, equal to or different from each other, are independently selected from a hydrogen atom and a C-Chydrocarbon group, and &#x2014;Ris a hydrogen atom or a C-Chydrocarbon moiety comprising at least one hydroxyl group, (B) at least one powdery electrode material, and (C) optionally, less than 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the aqueous composition, of at least one organic solvent (S), wherein the polymer (F) in the aqueous latex is under the form of primary particles having an average primary particle size of less than 1 &#x3bc;m, as measured according to ISO 13321. The present invention also pertains to a process for manufacturing an electrode using said aqueous composition, to an electrode comprising a metal substrate coated on at least one surface with said aqueous composition and to use of said electrode for manufacturing a non-aqueous-type electrochemical device.
