A method and system for temporarily gaining access to a system is disclosed, The method includes: receiving biometric data from a first biometric device of a first user on a computer processor; generating a temporary code on the computer processor in response to receipt of the biometric data from the first biometric device of the first user; sending the temporary code from the computer processor to the first biometric device of the first user; receiving biometric data from a second biometric device of a second user on the first biometric device of the first user; generating an access code on the first biometric device, the access code including one or more of the biometric data of the first user, the temporary code from the computer processor, and the biometric data of the second user; and sending the access code to the biometric device of the second user.

A method and system for securely registering a user in a biometric system. A method, system, and recording medium are disclosed for verifying a type of print media within trays of an image forming apparatus. The method includes feeding a sheet of a print media from a tray of the image forming apparatus to an in-line spectrophotometer; measuring characteristics of the print media with the in-line spectrophotometer, the measured characteristics of the print media including at least one of brightness, whiteness, or color; and determining if the measured characteristics of the print media matches a type of print media identified in a tray database for the tray of the image forming apparatus.

The method includes obtaining information according to first conditions in which each of the plural trays has been aligned, and the alignment of the each of plural trays is an adjustment to a position of a printable area on the sheet of print medium so that the printable area is centered on the sheet of print medium; obtaining information according to a second condition in which the at least one printer engine executes a print job; judging differences between each of the first conditions and the second condition; selecting a tray for the print job based on the judged differences; and instructing the print engine to execute the print job using the selected tray.

A method, a readable recording medium, and a system are disclosed for managing software version compatibility amongst a plurality of devices within a network. The method includes hosting a configuration file on a server, populating the configuration file for each of the two or more printers within the network with a printer identifier and one or more software versions associated with each of the two or more printers; executing a configuration tool on the server to compare the one or more software versions on a first printer of the two or more printers and the one or more software versions on at least one second printer of the two or more printers; and displaying if there is a software version discrepancy between the one or more software versions on the first printer and the one or more software versions on the at least one second printer.

Method and system for managing software version compatibility amongst devices in a multi-device network environment

A method, a readable recording medium, and a system are disclosed for managing software version compatibility amongst a plurality of devices within a network, the method includes hosting a configuration file on a server populating the configuration file for each of the one or more devices with a device identifier and one or more software modules associated with each of the one or more devices, the at least one software module configured to perform one or more specific operations on a device; executing a configuration tool on the server to compare the one or more software modules in each of the one or more devices to check for conflicts between two or more software modules on the one or more devices; and replacing at least one of the two or more software modules on the one or more devices, if a conflict exists between the two or more software modules.

A method for controlling at least one printer engine is disclosed, the at least one printer engine having plural trays, and wherein each of the plural trays is aligned independently for imaging on a sheet of print medium. A method of managing a plurality of print jobs, which includes the steps of: receiving a plurality of print jobs from one or more client devices, each of the plurality of print jobs having one or more print job attributes; creating a print job group list of the plurality of print jobs before the plurality of print jobs is processed by a printer controller; processing the plurality of print jobs on the printer controller for printing by an image forming apparatus; and printing one or more of the plurality of print jobs based on a printing sequence generated from the print job group list.

A method of managing at least one print media database server for print media attributes of print media is disclosed, the method includes hosting print media attributes for a plurality of image forming apparatuses on the at least one print media database server, and wherein the at least one print media database server contains print media attributes for a plurality of print media from one or more manufacturers; receiving, by the at least one print media database server, additional print media attributes from either of the one or more manufacturers and one of the plurality of image forming apparatuses; confirming accuracy of the additional print media attributes; and enabling, by the at least one print media database server, access to the additional print media attributes in the print media database from the plurality of image forming apparatuses, after the accuracy of the additional print media attributes is confirmed.

A method of determining print media attributes of print media, which includes the following steps: obtaining information from a package of print media using an image recognition system associated with the image forming apparatus; sending the information via a network connection to at least one print media database server for determination of print media attributes for the package of print media; determining the print media attributes of the package of print media by matching the information obtained from the image recognition system to a print attribute database hosted by the at least one print media database server, the print attribute database containing print media attributes for a plurality of print mediums, which are available to a plurality of image forming apparatuses; and sending the print media attributes for the package of print media to the image forming apparatus, which generates printer configuration settings for the print media.

A system for producing continuous print jobs, which includes a printing unit which prints an image and a client computer having executable instructions for creating a print job for producing a continuous print job. The executable instructions include activating a continuous print mode from a list of print properties within a printer driver user interface, and wherein the continuous print mode stacks at least two print jobs in a print job queue until instructed to print; sending at least two print jobs to the print job queue; selecting a final print format for each of the at least two print jobs; processing and formatting each of the at least two print jobs into a single combined print job; and printing the single combined print job. The printing unit and the client computer are connected via a network and/or direct connection.
