An aqueous composition for forming a micro-fluid jet printable dielectric film layer, methods for forming dielectric film layers, and dielectric film layers formed by the method. The aqueous composition includes from about 5 to about 20 percent by 65 weight of a polymeric binder emulsion, from about 10 to about 30 percent by weight of a humectant, from about 0 to about 3 percent by weight of a surfactant, and an aqueous carrier fluid. The aqueous composition has a viscosity ranging from about 2 to about 6 centipoise at a temperature of about 23&#xb0; C.

The invention relates to an aqueous cyan inkjet ink composition for use in ink jet printers comprising an aqueous carrier, a self dispersed cyan pigment, a polymeric additive, a surfactant, and a specific cosolvent mixture comprising a C-Cterminal alkanediol, a cyclic amide compound and its derivative, a polyol/polyalkylene oxide condensate, and a trihydric alcohol. Preferably, the self dispersed cyan pigment is surface modified with bisphosphonate group. The cyan inkjet ink demonstrates excellent stability, superior chroma, good printhead maintenance characteristics and high heater reliability in permanent and semi permanent printheads.

An inkjet ink composition having a binder including an aqueous dispersion of polymer particles, the polymer including, as polymerized units, (a) from 0 to 1 wt. % monoethylenically unsaturated acid monomer, based on polymer weight; and (b) monomer of the formulaCH&#x2550;C(R1)&#x2014;CON(R2)(R3)wherein R1&#x2550;H, CHor CHand R2 and R3 are independently selected from C1-C6 saturated alkyl and cycloalkyl groups; and wherein the total of (a) and (b) is at least 0.1 wt % monomer based on the polymer weight. The binder may be a copolymer of ethyl acrylate and acrylamide. An inkjet ink composition including the inkjet ink binder, a colorant, and a liquid medium is also provided.

Inkjet ink composition

An inkjet ink composition having a binder including an aqueous dispersion of polymer particles, the polymer comprising as polymerized units from 3 to 20 wt. % monoethylenically unsaturated acid monomer, based on polymer weight, and having a glass transition temperature (Tg) in the range of from &#x2212;40&#xb0; C. to 120&#xb0; C., and the polymer particles having a volume average particle diameter as measured by dynamic light scattering of at least 35 nanometers greater than the weight average particle diameter as measured by capillary hydrodynamic fractionation is provided. An inkjet ink composition including the inkjet ink binder is also provided.

Aqueous inkjet inks having metal nanoparticles for printing of conductive patterns or for other reasons can be printed employing heat energy within the range of current printers. For optimum printing the energy delivered would be about 2.9&#xd7;10Joules/mor larger of volume of the heater stack, preferably not much larger so as to conserve energy. In embodiments the mole fraction of water in the ink would be greater than 0.9 computed with respect to only the liquid components of the ink and the ink would be heated by contact with the surface a heater heated to 1.5&#xd7;10or more watts/mof volume of the heater stack. Embodiments of a silver ink will have greater than 12% silver and up to 27% silver by weight of the weight of the ink; the ink may have a viscosity of less than 3 Pa-s at 22 degrees C., preferably is less than 2.7 mPa-s; the ink may have a mole fraction of water greater than 0.87, preferably greater than 0.9, this mole fraction being computed with respect to all of the components of the ink.

Thermal printing of silver ink

Provided are novel yellow azo dyes which are useful in ink compositions, especially ink jet compositions. The dyes and ink compositions of the present invention exhibit a good balance of optical density, print reliability, water fastness and light fashion and exhibit improved water solubility, thus rendering the ink compositions to be especially suitable for printheads having small nozzle openings.

Yellow dyes and ink compositions

The present invention relates to ink compositions. More particularly, the present invention relates to ink compositions comprising a colorant and a polymeric binder having a below ambient glass transition temperature, an average particle diameter above about 200 nm and an acid component ranging from about 1% to about 10% by weight of the polymeric binder. Additionally, the present invention has the novel and useful feature of resistance to both wet-rub and dry smear as well as increased highlighter resistance and decreased occurrences of maintenance problems such as clogging and kogation.

Ink compositions

Provided are novel black azo dyes which are useful in ink compositions, especially ink jet ink compositions. The dyes and ink compositions of the present invention exhibit a good balance of optical density, print reliability, water fastness and light fastness.

Black azo dyes

A method of printing uses an inkjet print head to print an ink containing about 0.01 to about 15 wt. % of a wetting agent onto an intermediate transfer surface to form an image on the intermediate transfer surface. The method transfers the image from the intermediate transfer surface to a final medium while the ink is partially wet. The wetting agent may be a 1,2 alkyldiol having 4-10 carbon atoms or a diether alcohol having 6-14 carbon atoms. 1,2 hexanediol and hexylcarbitol, respectively, are particularly suitable wetting agents. If 1,2 hexanediol is used as the wetting agent, the ink may contain about 1.0 to about 5.0 wt. % hexanediol. If hexylcarbitol is used as the wetting agent, the ink may contain about 0.1 to about 2.5 wt. % of hexylcarbitol. The intermediate transfer surface may be coated with a coating solution. In this case, the ink should have a surface energy different from that of the coating solution by no more than about about 10 dynes/cm. The coating solution may contain polyvinyl pyrrolidone, and if so, about 0.01 to about 20 wt. % PVP is suitable. The PVP should have a molecular weight greater than about 400,000.
