A GPS information service system for providing supplemental GPS correction and signal acquisition information to subscribers. A GPS information server broadcasts GPS aiding information encrypted with subscription keys. A remote GPS subscription unit receives the key enablers for the subscription keys in service activation (SAM) messages for the services for which they have subscribed and then uses the subscription keys to decrypt the GPS aiding information. In order to prevent unauthorized access to the information, unsymmetrical signature generation and authentication algorithms are used for generating and authenticating signatures for the SAM messages.

In order to prevent unauthorized use, the SAM messages have signatures derived from identifications of the remote GPS subscription units using an unsymmetrical signature algorithm.

A cellular telephone having a global positioning system (GPS) receiver using a blended combination of GPS signals from GPS satellites and GPS pseudolites for determining a location. The cellular transceiver receives wireless downlink cellphone signals having acquisition aiding information including GPS-based time; ephemeris orbital parameters for GPS satellites; and pseudorandom (PRN) codes, locations, and signal characteristics used by GPS pseudolites in the local vicinity. The GPS receiver in the cellular telephone uses the acquisition aiding information for speeding the time to the first location fix.

A cellular telephone having a global positioning system (GPS) receiver using a blended combination of GPS signals from GPS satellites and GPS pseudolites for determining a location. The cellular telephone includes a cellphone transceiver and a GPS receiver. The cellular transceiver receives wireless downlink cellphone signals from the cell site transceiver and transmits wireless uplink cellphone signals to the cell site transceiver. The cell site transceiver passes voice and data from the downlink and uplink cellphone signals within a local area into the worldwide network of telephone services. The GPS receiver receives satellite GPS signals from GPS satellites and pseudolite GPS signals from GPS pseudolites. The GPS pseudolites augment the GPS satellites for the local area by broadcasting pseudolite GPS signals having location-determination information with a format that is similar to the format in the satellite GPS signals. The GPS receiver uses either the satellite GPS signals, the pseudolite GPS signals, or a blended combination of the satellite and pseudolite GPS signals for determining its location. Then, the cellphone transceiver reports the location to the cell site transceiver in the uplink cellphone signal. The cell site transceiver transmits a downlink cellphone signal having acquisition aiding information optionally including GPS-based time; ephemeris orbital parameters for GPS satellites; and pseudorandom (PRN) codes, locations, and signal characteristics used by GPS pseudolites in the local vicinity. The GPS receiver in the cellular telephone uses the acquisition aiding information for speeding the time to the first location fix.

The system and method for long baseline RTK survey are disclosed. The system includes a primary base station (PBS), a secondary base station (SBS), a primary data link between the PBS and the SBS, and a secondary data link between the SBS and a rover. The PBS, the SBS, and the rover are equipped with satellite antennas for satellite navigational purposes, and with the wireless Internet data accesses devices (WIDAD). The long baseline vector between the PBS and the rover is established by combining the primary baseline vector between the SBS and the PBS and the secondary baseline vector between the SBS and the rover. The PBS is placed in a position with a known location. The PBS wirelessly downloads its logged set of data into the Internet server using the (PBS-WIDAD). The SBS determines its precise position coordinates by accessing wirelessly the PBS logged data on the Internet server using the (SBS-WIDAD). The rover determine its position coordinates in real time by accessing SBS directly using the (Rover-WIDAD), or determines its coordinates using the batch delayed delivery method by wirelessly accessing the SBS position coordinates published on the Internet server.

Long baseline RTK using a secondary base receiver a non-continuous data link and a wireless internet connectivity

A control system for a combined GPS receiver and pseudolite receiver that allows adjustment of a number of data collection (i.e., configuration) parameters for the receiver. Preferably, a single interface allows for setting multiple parameters at the same time. Setting the configuration parameters may be in response to a user input specifying a desired quality of position estimate to be provided by the receiver and may be accomplished using a slide bar control. The slide bar control may be a graphical representation displayed to the user and may allow the user to choose from a number of predetermined settings, each corresponding to a set of different configuration parameters for the receiver.
