A technique for preparing User Equipment, UE, mobility from a 4G network to a 2G/3G network for a UE moving from a 5G network to the 2G/3G network via the 4G network is disclosed. A method implementation of the technique is performed by a network node after the UE has moved from the 5G network to the 4G network and includes triggering, for each of one or more bearers handed over from the 5G network to the 4G network for the UE, an update bearer procedure to provide one or more 2G/3G Quality of Service, QoS, parameters to the UE required to hand over the respective bearer to the 2G/3G network when the UE moves from the 4G network to the 2G/3G network.

Technique for preparing user equipment mobility

A method for operating a mobile entity in a mobile communications network having at least one slice is provided. The slice of the mobile communication to which the mobile entity intends to connect is determined. Additionally, whether a relationship can be identified in the mobile entity is determined. The relationship indicates whether the slice to which the mobile entity intends to connect is related to an access point of the slice. A request message is then transmitted to a radio access network (RAN) of the mobile communications network that includes the identified relationship.

A method implementation of the technique is performed by a network node of the 5G network and comprises triggering (S) providing one or more 2G/3G Quality of Service, QoS, parameters to the UE required to hand over at least one QoS flow established between the UE and the 5G network to the 2G/3G network when the UE moves to the 2G/3G network.

The embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a mobility node for handling a UE which has moved from an old to a new location. The mobility node retrieves UE context from a database. The mobility node determines whether there is a change of mobility node and first gateway at the new location. When there is a change of the first gateway, the mobility node initiates setup of a tunnel between a second gateway and a new first gateway. When there is a change of the mobility node, the mobility node provides a subscriber server with UE context for a new mobility node at the new location. The mobility node transmits updated UE context to the database.

The method further includes constructing a domain name for a packet system network, the domain name including network partition information for the packet system network. Methods and devices for selecting network partition in untrusted WLAN access

It is desirable for a user equipment (UE)to be able to determine if connecting using an access point name (APN) would result in a home routed or local breakout (LBO) routed connection. With this information, the UE can decide which APNs to use for packet data network (PDN) connections e.g. to ensure that the bearers on the PDN connection are able to carry certain services which are incompatible with home routing or LBO routing, or to ensure that charging is carried out by the home or visited network, as desired (e.g. to avoid roaming fees). Alternatively, the user can be presented with the option of home routing or LBO routing for a connection. In order to provide this information to the UE, modified signalling is proposed, among others, by means of a method of operating a mobility management entity (MME)in a mobile telecommunications network. The MME provides, S, to a UE a mapping between an APN that has been or may be used by the UE to establish a connection to a PGN gateway and a routing type associated with the connection. The routing type is one of home routing and local breakout, LBO, routing. The UE is roaming in a geographical area controlled by the MME.

Routing based on access point name (APN) information

A core network node identifies a non-USIM based authentication procedure to be utilized by a wireless communication device, WCD, being served by the core network node. The node obtains a session key associated with the identified non-USIM based authentication procedure. The node converts the session key associated with the identified non-USIM based authentication procedure to i) a first key, K, for use by the WCD and a base station serving the WCD to derive an encryption or integrity protection key, K, for enabling encryption or integrity protection of a communication between the WCD and the base station or ii) a second key, K, for use by the WCD and the core network node to derive the first key K. The node then send i) Kto the base station or ii) Kto another core network node that is configured to derive Kfrom K.

Method, apparatus, and system for providing encryption or integrity protection in a wireless network

A method of determining in an IP multimedia subsystem, IMS, network which radio access type, RAT, should be used to route a terminating session directed towards a user equipment, UE. The HSS receives a terminating access domain selection, T-ADS, query from an application server, AS, of the IMS network, the T-ADS query relating to the terminating session and identifying the UE; and determines whether a packet data network gateway, PDN-GW, is registered for the UE. In the case where a PDN-GW is registered, the HSS sends a RAT request towards the PDN-GW, the RAT request identifying the UE and requesting a RAT used by the UE to connect to the IMS network. The PDN-GW determines the RAT and sends the result towards the HSS, which sends a T-ADS response to the AS indicating the RAT. In the case where a PDN-GW is not registered, the HSS sends a T-ADS response to the AS indicating that the RAT is a circuit switched RAT. Apparatus for implementing the method are also provided.

Enhancements to terminating access domain selection

A method implemented in a control node includes receiving a message from a first node. The method further includes determining whether the received message corresponds to one or more network partitions based at least in part on the partition selection information. The method further includes selecting, in response to determining that the message corresponds to the one or more network partitions, a particular network partition from the one or more network partitions using the partition selection information, and routing the message to a second node associated with the selected particular network partition.

A method is performed in a network control entity that manages network connections for a network. The method includes receiving a network attachment request from a network access entity or a user equipment for connecting the user equipment to the network. The method further includes obtaining a network partition ID associated with the UE, the network partition ID identifying a network partition that includes a predetermined group of network entities included in the network. The method also includes transmitting, to a network storage entity, a notification containing the network partition ID.
