A panic device for rapidly unlocking an entryway includes a touch bar handle configured for activating the panic device; and a push arm assembly mechanically connected to the touch bar handle, and configured for operating a latch mechanism connected to the push arm assembly via a plurality of linkages. Activation of the panic device, including depressing the touch bar handle, activating the push arm assembly, and the operation of the latch mechanism generates a noise reduction in the range of approximately 20-99 percent and at least 30 decibels during operation of the latch mechanism.

Bearing for a single action hinge

A door latch assembly is provided with enhanced acoustic dampening characteristics, and includes a door bolt assembly having an inside barrel and an outside barrel configured for accommodating reciprocal sliding action of the inside barrel between a latch position and a release position. At least one barrel acoustic isolator is associated with at least one of the inside barrel and the outside barrel, and is configured for dampening sound generated by the reciprocal action.

A door handle assembly for use with a door that includes an actuator plate configured for activating a door latch assembly and a door handle having a working end pivotally connected to the actuator plate and a free end opposite of the working end configured for manipulation by an operator, where the door handle freely pivots between a up position and down position relative to the actuator plate and only activates the latch assembly in the down position.

A tip is provided for a geared hinge including a first leaf, a second leaf and a cap enclosing complementary meshed edges of the first and the second leaves, at least one of the first leaf, the second leaf and the cap defining a channel. The tip includes a body with a depending tongue constructed and arranged for complementary engagement in the channel, an angled upper end projecting vertically from the tongue, the upper end including an inclined surface extending from a top portion to the tongue, the inclined surface defining an overhang extending on at least one side of the tongue for covering the channel.

A door hinge includes first and second leaves each with a plate portion, a free edge and an opposite geared edge, the geared edges meshing with each other as the leaves operationally pivot. Each leaf has a front surface and an opposite back surface. A cap covers the meshed geared edges on the back surface and defines a pivot axis for each of the leaves, the cap defining a channel A recess is provided in the front surface of each leaf, the recesses being in communication with the channel, each recess defining a break in the geared edges. First and second access panels are removably secured in the recesses, having a geared panel edge complementary with the leaf geared edge and filling the break, and at least one of the access panels being secured to the respective hinge leaf by security fasteners extending only into the leaf.

Power transfer unit

A door latch assembly is described with a convertible cam drive having a door bolt assembly including a sliding bolt configured for reciprocal sliding action between a latch position and a release position. Such an embodiment includes a cam drive assembly having a bolt actuator as well as a cam holder configured for placement within the cam receiving aperture of the base plate to accommodate the base plate being mounted in one of the plurality of orientations with respect to the door. The cam drive assembly is constructed and arranged for receiving the cam engaging portion of the door handle when pivoted from the rest position to the actuating position, thereby causing the sliding bolt to move from a latch position to a release position using the bolt actuator.

A power transfer unit is disclosed. In a first implementation of the disclosed power transfer unit, a tubular assembly of the power transfer unit includes an encapsulated elbow hinge design with a reduced profile that permits substantially off-center installation of the housings of the power transfer unit. In a second implementation of the disclosed power transfer unit, the tubular assembly includes an inverted, telescoping tubing design that does not come apart during installation and use, and in some implementations may act as a stop for a closable member.

A push-pull door handle assembly is provided for use with a door having a latch mechanism. The assembly includes a base plate, an actuator linkage associated with the base plate and configured for actuating the latch, a door handle having a working end pivotally connected to the base plate and a free end opposite of the working end configured for manipulation by an operator such that a pushing action on the working end actuates the latch. The door handle is connected to the base plate such that a pulling action on the handle activates an alarm upon the free end reaching a predetermined position.
