In one example an apparatus can include a controller communicatively coupled to a droplet dispenser to deposit antibody fluid on a matrix of an immunoblotting array, the controller is to align the droplet dispenser with a protein band included in the matrix, instruct the droplet dispenser to deposit a first antibody fluid on to the protein band of the matrix, and instruct the droplet dispenser to deposit a second antibody fluid on to the protein band of the matrix, adjacent to the first antibody fluid.

An example apparatus includes a sampling layer to position microscopic objects thereon, a light encoding layer to encode light from passing through the microscopic objects of the sampling layer, the light encoding layer having a substantially flat form, and an imaging layer to capture an image of the sampling layer, the image being encoded by the light encoding layer.

A microfluidic pressure sensor may include a reference chamber, a sensed volume, a microfluidic channel connecting an interior of the reference chamber to an interior of the sensed volume, a volume of liquid contained and movable within the microfluidic channel while occluding the microfluidic channel and a sensor to output signals indicating positioning of the volume of liquid along the microfluidic channel. Positioning of the volume of liquid along microfluidic channel indicates a pressure of the sensed volume.

A surface enhanced luminescence (SEL) sensor may include a substrate and nano fingers extending from the substrate. In one implementation, the nano fingers may be arranged in a cluster of at least three nano fingers extending from the substrate. The nano fingers of the cluster having different geometries so as to bend into a closed state such that each of the nano fingers of the cluster are linked to one another.

A surface enhanced luminescence (SELS) sensor may include a substrate and nano fingers projecting from the substrate. Each of the nano fingers may include a polymer pillar having a sidewall and a top, a coating layer covering the sidewall and a metal cap supported by and in contact with the top of the pillar.

A surface enhanced luminescence system may include a laser and a controller to output control signals causing the laser to irradiate the pre-analyte exposed plasmonic surface while maintaining a profile of the pre-analyte exposed plasmonic surface.

A luminescence-enhancement system can include a luminescence-enhancement sensor having a substrate and a group of nanofingers with individual nanofingers that can be flexible and include a support end attached to the substrate, a distal tip positioned distally with respect to the substrate, and a middle portion between the support end and the distal tip. A coating of a metal or metal alloy can be applied to the substrate and the distal tip that is conductively continuous. The middle portion can be devoid of the coating or the coating at the middle portion is conductively discontinuous. A liquid ejector can be present and can include a jetting nozzle to eject a liquid droplet having a volume of 2 pL to 10 &#x3bc;L. The group of nanofingers and the jetting nozzle can be positionable relative to one another for the droplet to be deposited on the group of nanofingers.

Luminescence-enhancement systems

A surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) sensor may include a nano structured surface and a nonstoichiometric oxide layer. The nano structured surfers may include a first peak, a second peak and a valley between the first peak and the second peak. The non-stoichiometric oxide layer may include a first portion on the first peak and a second portion on the second peak.

A microporous structure includes an array of nano wires and a coating about the nano wires of the array. The coating defines pores between the nano wires.

A surface enhanced luminescence analyte interrogation stage may include a substrate and an array of pillars projecting from the substrate. Each of the pillars may include a polymeric post formed from a first material and a cap on the polymeric post. The cap has a plasmonic surface and is formed from a second material different than the first. A sacrificial coating covers the cap of each of the pillars.

A surfaced enhanced luminescence analyte interrogation stage shipping and storage package may include a sealed chamber, a liquid contained within the sealed chamber and nano pillars within the sealed chamber and submersed within the liquid. The nano pillars comprise polymer posts and metallic caps forming tips of the nano pillars.

A surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensor may include a substrate, an electrically conductive layer having a first portion spaced from a second portion by a gap, an electrically resistive layer in contact with and extending between the first portion and the second portion of the electrically conductive layer to form an electrically resistive bridge across the gap that heats the nano fingers in response to electrical current flowing across the bridge from the first portion to the second portion and nano fingers extending upward from the bridge.

A method may include sensing first data samples from a first set of different subjects having a membership in a target class and sensing second data samples from a second set of different subjects not having a membership in the target class, wherein each of the first data samples and the second data samples includes a composite of individual data features. The individual data features from each composite of the first data samples and the second data samples are extracted and quantified. Sets of features and associated weightings of a target class model are identified based upon quantified values of the individual features from each composite of the first samples and the second samples to create a model representing a fingerprint of the target class to determine membership status of a sample having an unknown membership status with respect to the target class.

A target analyte is extracted out of a sample fluid in a sample fluid passage by diffusing the target analyte through a supported liquid membrane to a product fluid passage. Extraction of the target analyte is accelerated by applying an electric field across and perpendicular to the supported liquid membrane with electrodes. Passage of selected ions across an exchange membrane extending between one of the electrodes and the supported liquid membrane is inhibited.

A surface enhanced infrared absorption stage may include a substrate, a static island extending from the substrate and a movable nano finger extending from the substrate. The static island may have a plasmonically active island cap and a dimension parallel to the substrate of at least one micrometer. The movable nano finger may be aligned with the dimension. The movable nano finger may have a plasmonically active finger cap closable to less than or equal to 5 nm of the island cap.
