A charge transport layer for an imaging member comprising a first and second charge transport layer wherein the second charge transport layer comprises a charge transport component, a hindered phenol covalently bonded to a polymer, and an additional polymer binder other than the polymer containing the hindered phenol. The charge transport layer exhibits excellent wear resistance, excellent electrical performance, and excellent print quality.

Disclosed are marking materials containing retroreflective fillers and processes for the use thereof. In one embodiment, images containing retroreflective fillers are generated on paper by any suitable means, such as electrostatic imaging and development with either dry or liquid developers, ink jet printing, strip-out development processes, or the like, and the images thus generated are used to control a document reproduction system. In another embodiment, images containing retroreflective fillers are generated on a movable part in an imaging apparatus, such as an imaging member, an intermediate transfer member, or the like, by any suitable means, and the images thus generated are used to impart information regarding the relative position of the movable part with respect to the copier or printer containing the movable part.

A charge generating layer for an electrophotographic imaging member is provided containing trigonal selenium and phthalocyanine photoconductive particles dispersed in a film forming polymer binder. The film forming polymer binder may be a styrene butadiene copolymer having a weight percent styrene to butadiene content of about 85:15 to about 95:5 and a glass transition temperature range of about 50.degree. C. to about 60.degree. C. A process for producing the homogeneous dispersion of photoconductive particles includes separately milling the trigonal selenium particles and the phthalocyanine particles to approprite particle sizes, and dispersing the separately milled particles in the film forming polymer binder.

Styrene butadiene copolymers as binders in mixed pigment generating layer

A flexible electrophotographic imaging member including a supporting substrate, a charge generation layer and a charge transport layer, the charge generation layer containing a homogeneous dispersion of photoconductive particles of trigonal selenium dispersed in a film forming polymer blend of polycarbonate, polyvinylchloride-polyvinylacetate copolymer and a polymeer selected from the group consisting of phenoxy resin, styrene butadiene copolymer and mixtures thereof. A process for preparing an electrophotographic imaging member comprising providing a photogenerating layer on a supporting substrate and applying a charge transport layer forming mixture to the photogenerating layer, the charge transport layer forming mixture comprising a charge transporting aromatic amine compound of one or more compounds having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are an aromatic group selected from the group consisting of a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group, naphthyl group, and polyphenyl group and R.sup.3 is selected from the group consisting of a substituted or unsubstituted aryl, and alkyl group having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms and cycloaliphatic group having from 3 to 12 carbon atoms, a polymeric film forming resin in which the aromatic amine is soluble, solvent for the polymeric film forming resin, and from about 1 part per million to about 10,000 parts per million, based on the weight of the aromatic amine, of a protonic acid or Lewis acid having a boiling point greater than about 40.degree. C. and soluble in the solvent.
