Disclosed are polyethylene blends and films. The blend comprises from 1 to 99%, based on the weight of the blend, of a medium density polyethylene (MDPE) and from 1 to 99% a polyolefin selected from the group consisting of high density polyethylene (HDPE), linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), low density polyethylene (LDPE), polypropylene, polybutene, and mixtures thereof. The MDPE is made by high pressure, free radical polymerization and has a density within the range of greater than 0.928 to 0.940 g/cmand an MIwithin the range of 0.1 to 1 dg/min. The shrink films made from the blend have strong contraction force and low creep.

Polyethylene blends and films

A method of modifying a tubular low density polyethylene (LDPE) is disclosed. In the method ethylene is polymerized with a free radical initiator in a high pressure reactor to form an LDPE. The LDPE is then reacted with a free radical initiator to produce a modified polyethylene. The modified polymer has an increased long chain branching index as indicated by the increase in the gel permeation chromatography branching index.

Modifying tubular LDPE with free radical initiator

The present invention relates to polyolefin compositions that incorporate an acrylic/polyether comb-branched copolymer, articles made from the compositions, such as polyolefin films and polyolefin fibers, and methods for making the compositions and the articles.

Polyolefin compositions

Disperse dyed polyethylene fibers obtained by either melt spinning or flash spinning and materials produced from said fibers are provided. The process utilizes dye blends containing at least three and, more preferably, four or more disperse dyes selected from a primary color group. The individual dyes are utilized at a concentration of at lest 75% but less than 100% of the determined maximum concentration which produces crocking. HDPE and LLDPE materials are effectively dyed using disperse dye blends formulated by the invention.

Disperse dyed polyethylene and process

A clear and printable polypropylene film is disclosed. The film is prepared from a blend of a polypropylene and an ethylene/alkyl acrylate copolymer. It has an excellent adhesion with commonly used inks without surface treatment.

Polyolefin fibers, primarily polypropylene fibers, having improved properties are provided. The ability to produce fibers having an improved balance of properties including increased tenacity, modulus and elongation, is accomplished by incorporating from 1 to 10 weight percent aromatic hydrocarbon resin in the polypropylene fiber-forming composition which can be based on a propylene homopolymer or copolymer or blend of these propylene polymer resins with a non-propylene-containing resin.
