The present disclosure generally relates to methods for sending event notifications. In some examples, a controller periodically sends messages concerning a status of an event corresponding to the controller. In some examples, at a first time while periodically sending the messages and in accordance with a determination that the status of the event has changed, the controller sends a message concerning data other than the status of the event. In some examples, at the first time while periodically sending the messages and in accordance with a determination that the status of the event has not changed, the controller continues to periodically send the messages without sending the message concerning data other than the status of the event.

Event reporting

Systems, methods, devices and computer-readable storage mediums are disclosed for correcting a compass view using map data. In an implementation, a method comprises: receiving, by one or more sensors of a mobile device, sensor data; determining, by a processor of the mobile device, compass offset data for a compass view based on the sensor data and map data; determining, by the processor, a corrected compass view based on the compass offset data; and presenting, by the processor, the corrected compass view.

Correcting compass view using map data

An electronic device displays a messaging interface that allows a participant in a message conversation to capture, send, and/or play media content. The media content includes images, video, and/or audio. The media content is captured, sent, and/or played based on the electronic device detecting one or more conditions.

Message user interfaces for capture and transmittal of media and location content

An electronic device includes a touch-sensitive surface, a display, and a camera sensor. The device displays a message region for displaying a message conversation and receives a request to add media to the message conversation. Responsive to receiving the request, the device displays a media selection interface concurrently with at least a portion of the message conversation. The media selection interface includes a plurality of affordances for selecting media for addition to the message conversation, the plurality of affordances includes a live preview affordance, at least a subset of the plurality of affordances includes thumbnail representations of media available for adding to the message conversation, and the live preview affordance is associated with a live camera preview. Responsive to detecting selection of the live preview affordance, the device captures a new image based on the live camera preview and selects the new image for addition to the message conversation.

In some implementations, a mobile device can be configured to provide simplified audio navigation instructions. The simplified audio navigation instructions can provide a reduced set of audio navigation instructions so that the audio instructions are only presented to the user when the user wishes to or needs to hear the instructions. A user can enable the simplified audio navigation instructions. The simplified audio navigation instructions can be enabled automatically. The simplified audio navigation instructions can be configured with rules for when to present audio navigation instructions. For example, the rules can specify that audio navigation instructions are to be provided for complex road segments, a user defined portion of a route, or specified road types, among other criteria. The mobile device can be configured with exceptions to the rules such that audio navigation instructions can be presented when the user has, for example, deviated from a defined route.

Simplified audio navigation instructions

Wearable electronic devices, such as watches, can be provided with an ability to detect whether a tactile input provided to an input component, such as a button, is intentional or unintentional. For example, a wearable device can analyze the context in which a tactile input is received, such as attributes of the tactile input and/or operational parameters of the wearable device at the time the tactile input is received. By further example, a wearable device can infer whether a tactile input is a result of an activity, such as exercising, random movement, or collision with an object. The wearable devices can accept or reject the tactile input and determine whether an action associated with the tactile input should be performed.

Input management for wearable devices

In an example method, a mobile device connects a voice call for a user. The voice call causes one or more radio frequency transmitters of the mobile device to transmit radio waves at a first power level. Motion data describing movement of the mobile device is obtained, and the orientation of the mobile device is determined based on the motion data. A determination whether the mobile device is on the user's body or on an inanimate object is made based on the orientation of the mobile device over the period of time. The transmit power level is adjusted based on the determination.

A system and method for improving the accuracy of a user device when generating map/navigation information for display to a user, comprising: obtaining compass heading from a magnetometer of the user device located within a vehicle; adjusting the compass heading based on a mount angle of the user device within the vehicle; obtaining location data from a location sensor of the user device; determining if a course of the vehicle can be reliably determined from the location data; if the course of the vehicle cannot be reliably determined from the location data, determining the orientation of the vehicle using the compass heading but not the course; if the course of the vehicle can be reliably determined from the location data, calculating a course of the vehicle based on the location data and determining the orientation of the vehicle using the course; generating, by a processor, first map/navigation information using the orientation of the vehicle; and displaying, by a processor, the first map/navigation information to the user.

In one aspect, the present disclosure relates to a method, including determining, by a wearable device, receiving, by a wearable device, motion information from a motion sensor of the wearable device, determining, by the wearable device using the motion information, that a vehicle is turning, and determining, by the wearable device using the motion information when the vehicle is turning, that a user of the wearable device is controlling the vehicle.

Detecting controllers in vehicles using wearable devices

Measurements can be obtained from sensors to determine a state of a device. The state can be used to determine whether to provide an alert. For example, after a first alert is provided, it can be determined that the device is not accessible to the user based on the determined state, and a second alert can be suppressed at a specified time after providing the first alert. The sensor measurements can be monitored after suppressing the second alert, and a state engine can detect a change in a state based on subsequent sensor measurements. If the state change indicates that the device is accessible to the user the second alert can be provided to the user. Alerts can be dismissed based on a change in state. A first device can coordinate alerts sent to or to be provided by a second device by suppressing or dismissing such alerts.

Sending smart alerts on a device at opportune moments using sensors

Methods and systems for improving signal reception and call quality by detecting a user's handedness of holding a mobile device during a call are described. Motion data of the mobile device can be collected by one or more motion sensor. A screen tilt angle can be determined and compared with a threshold tilt angle. A screen swivel angle can be determined and compared with a threshold swivel angle. A call handedness can be determined based on the screen swivel angle. One or more parameters of an antenna can be adjusted based on the call handedness.

Systems and methods for detecting call handedness

A wearable computing device can detect device-raising gestures. For example, onboard motion sensors of the device can detect movement of the device in real time and infer information about the spatial orientation of the device. Based on analysis of signals from the motion sensors, the device can detect a raise gesture, which can be a motion pattern consistent with the user moving the device's display into his line of sight. In response to detecting a raise gesture, the device can activate its display and/or other components. Detection of a raise gesture can occur in stages, and activation of different components can occur at different stages.

Methods and devices for detecting a change in a motion state of a user of a mobile device are provided. The method includes determining, based on one or more sensors of the mobile device, that the motion state of the user is a driving state, the driving state indicating that the user is inside a vehicle that is moving, monitoring, with the mobile device, the one or more sensors, determining that a new motion state is a non-driving state. The method further includes identifying a location where the user exited the vehicle using one or more of the measurements from the one or more sensors before the determining that the new motion state is the non-driving state, and identifying the location where the user exited the vehicle as corresponding to a parked location of the vehicle.
