A method for operating a burner including a burner outlet opening with at least two sectors, each sector is assigned at least one fuel nozzle, is provided. The method is characterized in that fuel is supplied separately to the fuel nozzles of different sectors. Also described is a burner which includes at least two sectors wherein each sector is assigned at least one fuel nozzle. The burner includes at least two separate fuel supply lines and a device for adjusting the fuel mass flow which flows through the respective fuel supply line. The fuel supply lines supply fuel to the fuel nozzles of different sectors. Also described is a gas turbine which is fitted with at least one burner.

Burner and method for operating a burner

A pilot burner () for a gas turbine engine delivers an inner non-swirling fuel-oxidant mixture surrounded by an outer swirling fuel-oxidant mixture, thereby providing enhanced mixing with no recirculation zone. At least one fluid-restricting inlet port () provides an oxidant to an inner mixing passage (). The inner mixing passage () includes a plurality of fuel outlets (). An outer annular mixing passage () receives oxidant from an upstream port () surrounding the inner mixing passage and includes at least one swirler element () and fuel outlets ().

Pilot burner for gas turbine engine

A burner () of a gas turbine engine () includes a cylindrical basket () comprising an air flow reversal region (). The flow reversal region ends at an air inlet plane () of the basket. The burner also includes a flow conditioner () disposed in the flow reversal region transecting an air flow () flowing non-uniformly through the flow reversal region, the flow conditioner being effective to mitigate variation of the air flow entering the basket across the inlet plane.

A system for attaching liners to a carrier for forming inner surfaces of turbine combustor. The system may include one or more liners attached to a carrier using connectors engaged to the carrier on a cold side of the liner and may include one or more liners attached to the carrier using connectors engaged to a hot side of the liners. The carrier may include one or more access ports for accessing from the hot side connectors engaged to the carrier on the cold side. In at least one embodiment, the system may include attaching all liners, except for one liner, to a carrier using connectors coupled to the carrier on the cold side and may include attaching the one liner to the carrier using connectors coupled to the carrier on the hot side.

Attachment system for coupling combustor liners to a carrier of a turbine combustor

A pre-mixing burner ( ) for a gas turbine engine having improved resistance to flashback. Fuel ( ) is supplied to a pre-mixing chamber ( ) of the burner from a plurality of fuel outlet openings ( ) formed in fuel pegs ( ) extending into the flow of air ( ) passing through the chamber. The fuel outlet openings are formed to direct the fuel in a downstream direction at an angle (A) relative to the direction of the flow of air past the respective fuel peg. This angle imparts a downstream velocity vector (V ) for increasing the net velocity of the air and a normal velocity vector (V ) for directing the fuel away from the wake ( ) formed downstream of the fuel peg. Alternate ones of the fuel outlet openings along a single fuel peg may be formed at respective positive (A) and negative (B) angles with respect to a plane ( ) extending along the wake in order to minimize the size of the wake. The propensity of the burner to support upstream flame propagation and flashback is thus reduced by increasing the net air velocity, by minimizing the amount of fuel entrained in the wake, and by minimizing the size of the wake.
