A system, for a vehicle, including a first wireless client station implemented in the vehicle, a wireless access point implemented in the vehicle, and a controller implemented in the vehicle. The first wireless client station is configured to transmit a first packet. The first packet includes a first command to control an operation of the vehicle. The wireless access point is configured to receive the first packet and transmit the first packet. The controller is configured to receive the first packet from the wireless access point and to control the operation of the vehicle in accordance with the first command included within the first packet.

Method and apparatus for supporting wireless communication in a vehicle

Vehicles having corresponding methods comprise a media source to provide digital data; a first wireless network station comprising a first transmitter to wirelessly transmit first packets of the digital data; a second wireless network station comprising a first receiver to wirelessly receive the first packets of the digital data; and a media player to reproduce media based on the first packets of the digital data wirelessly received by the second wireless network station.

Wireless networks for vehicles

A system for a vehicle including a first user interface to generate a first command to receive audio/video data from a server in the vehicle, a first wireless client station to transmit a first packet including the first command, and a first wireless access point to (i) receive the first packet transmitted from the first wireless client and (ii) transmit the first packet to a wireless router. The wireless router routes the first packet to the server and routes, to the first wireless access point, packets received from the server in response to the first command, where the packets include the audio/video data. The first wireless access point transmits the packets to the first wireless client station. A media player (i) generates audio/video signals based on the packets received from the first wireless client station and (ii) outputs the audio/video signals to the first user interface.

The invention relates to an adaptive Radio Frequency (RF) filter (), which is particularly useful as an RF filter in Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN's). As greater demands are placed on RF systems, for example in WLAN's in order to increase channel capacity by utilizing available bandwidth, corresponding demands are placed upon performance and tolerance of components used in FR circuits. An adaptive Radio Frequency (RF) filter for filtering first and second RF signals from an OFDM encoded carrier signal is provided, the adaptive RF filter comprises: a low-pass filter () configured to filter first and second RF signals, one from another, so as to provide a first RF output signal; the adaptive RF filter being tunable in response to one or more input signals, the at least one input signal being derived from a comparator (), which compares the first RF output signal with a desired value for said first RF output signal, and provides a connection factor for varying a characteristic of the filter (). An advantage of the invention is that it facilitates filter of two OFDM encoded RF signals, the first typically at 8.1 MHz and the second (unwanted) at 11.9 MHz, from a base-band signal, with a noise floor level of &#x2014;55 dB or better. Another advantage is that the filter is able to self calibrate and is able to take into account fluctuations which may affect performance, for example thermal drift, and automatically trim its characteristics so as to compensate for these fluctuations.

Adaptive radio frequency (RF) filter

A method of communicating with a plurality of contactless data carriers and a contactless data carrier for use in communicating with a base station. The method of communicating includes the base station transmitting a wake up signal for a plurality of contactless data carriers which are in a wait state. Then, the data carriers exit the wait state and transmit identity information to the base station in a time slot that is randomly self-assigned. The base station registers the identity information by polling the registered data carriers and initiates dialogue with registered data carriers in an order determined by the randomly self-assigned time slots of the registered data carriers. The method of communication helps to avoid the problem of data collision that often occurs when multiple contactless data carriers or smart cards operate in the field of a single base station or card reader.
