An apparatus for calling deer, and methods of its use; the apparatus having an adjustable sliding element moved longitudinally by the user to adjust the dimension x of a vibrating reed to vary the sound generated by the deer call. The device includes a barrel assembly having a cut-out opening in its side, with a vibrating reed mounted therein on a reed holder. A tone-adjusting slide assembly, manually accessible through the cut-out opening, has a reed contact band extending transversely and clampingly across the reed so as to clamp it at any of various selectable locations depending on the axial position of the tone-adjusting slide assembly. The pitch of the sound can be adjusted without disassembling the deer call.

An apparatus for calling deer, and methods of its use; the apparatus having an adjustable sliding element moved longitudinally by the user to adjust the dimension x of a vibrating reed to vary the sound generated by the deer call. The device includes a barrel assembly with a vibrating reed mounted therein on a reed holder. A metal slider mounted for longitudinal movement within the barrel assembly has a tab extending outwardly therefrom so as to be adjustable without disassembly of the device.

A remotely controlled tooling apparatus is disclosed for supporting and selectively disposing a tool with respect to a workpiece illustratively taking the form of a core barrel of a nuclear reactor. Illustratively, a core barrel is of a substantially cylindrical configuration and has a plurality of flow holes disposed therethrough. The remotely controlled apparatus comprises a tool carriage, a support table carried thereby for receiving the tool, a strongback assembly for supporting and guiding the tool carriage with respect to the core barrel, and a pair of clamps affixed to the strongback assembly for engaging the core barrel for suspending the strongback assembly upon the core barrel. The tool carriage and its support table carried thereby are selectively disposed with respect to the core barrel, whereby the tool may be engaged and disengaged with and from the core barrel. In an illustrative embodiment of this invention, the tool takes the form of an arm for releasably holding a plug to the inserted into a selected one of the existing flow holes.

Tooling apparatus for modifying nuclear reactors

A spacer and block cutting torch is lowered through the wrapper-to-shell annulus of a removed-top steam generator by addition of vertical sections of hollow-back column by vertical movement of a motorized carriage along a rack-and-guide track extending upwardly from atop the wrapper and manipulation of column clamps, one movable with the carriage and the other affixed to the wrapper, to transfer column weight from carriage to wrapper-top during adding and subtracting column sections. The rearward concave side of the column, held flush with the wrapper wall, readily accepts and serves to enclose operating gas hoses for the cutting torch. Yieldable bias means cooperates with the interior of the generator shell to urge the concave side of the column toward the wrapper.
