A luer connector assembly () including a luer connector body (), a luer cap () and a protective flexible sleeve (). The protective sleeve is assembled to the distal end () of the luer cap () to define a cap/sleeve subassembly (), and the luer cap proximal end () is removably affixable to the distal end () of the luer connector (). A prepared end () of a proximal catheter lumen () of a patient-implanted catheter assembly is inserted through the protective sleeve () and through and beyond the luer cap () to be affixed to the luer connector distal end (). The luer cap/sleeve subassembly () is then slid proximally to be removably affixed to the luer connector distal end (), whereafter the clamp () on the catheter lumen () is positionable onto and around the protective sleeve (), to protect the catheter lumen () during clamping.

Luer connector assembly with clamping sleeve and method of use

A catheter assembly () having an outer catheter () and an inner catheter () extending coaxially through the outer catheter, and a hub (). The inner catheter () is axially movable within and with respect to the outer catheter () by use of an actuator assembly () such that the catheter assembly has an opened condition permitting fluid communication with vasculature of a patient, and a closed condition preventing fluid communication with the vasculature of the patient. The opened condition permits the intended use of the catheter assembly such as for hemodialysis of the patient. In the closed condition, locking solution may be maintained in the catheter assembly and later removed therefrom, with essentially no locking solution leaving the catheter assembly or entering the patient. The actuator assembly () is secured to a proximal end portion () of the inner catheter () as it protrudes proximally from the hub (), where it is accessible to the practitioner. The actuator assembly () may comprise an adapter sleeve () fixed to the inner catheter (), and a swivel sleeve () which is rotatable with respect to both the adapter sleeve () and the hub ().

Closable and openable catheter assembly and method of using same

An adapter assembly () for connecting a catheter assembly () to a tunneler () having a generally tubular body () having a first end (), a second end () and a longitudinal axis () extending therethrough between the first end and the second end. The first end () of the adapter is constructed to engage the proximal end () of a trocar (). The second end () of the adapter is constructed to releasably engage at least one catheter lumen (). A slider () is disposed about the adapter () and is longitudinally slidable along the adapter. When the slider () is slid towards the second end () of the adapter, the slider engages a plurality of legs (-) on the adapter and biases the plurality of legs toward each other and the longitudinal axis of the adapter. A method of subcutaneously tunneling a catheter using the adapter assembly is also described that comprises inserting a catheter into a patient, connecting the proximal end of a trocar to the adapter assembly, releasably restraining at least one lumen of the catheter in the adapter, and tunneling the assembly.

Method of using a catheter tunneler adapter

A method of subcutaneously tunneling a catheter using the adapter assembly is also described that comprises inserting a catheter into a patient, connecting the proximal end of a trocar to the adapter assembly, releasably restraining at least one lumen of the catheter in the adapter, and tunneling the assembly.

Catheter tunneler adapter

A connector () for a medical device including a body () having a proximal end (), a distal end (), and a passage () extending therethrough between the proximal end and the distal end that fluidly connects the proximal end and the distal end. The proximal end () includes a connecting portion () for releasably connecting the connector to an external device. The distal end () is fluidly connected to a conduit. A cylinder () is rotatably disposed in the passage () between first position and a second position, wherein the cylinder includes an opening () extending generally diametrically therethrough. One or both ends () of the cylinder provide manually- or tool-engageable sections () to enable rotation of the cylinder between open and closed positions, allowing and preventing fluid flow through the connector (), respectively.

A continuous flow catheter is disclosed. The catheter includes a proximal portion having first proximal end, a first distal end, and an intake lumen and a return lumen. Each of the intake and return lumens extends between the first proximal end and the first distal end. The catheter also includes a connector portion fixedly connected to the first distal portion, wherein the return lumen terminates at the connector portion. The catheter also includes a distal portion having a second proximal end, a second distal end, and a distal lumen extending between the second proximal end and the second distal end. The second distal end is fixedly connected to the connector portion such that the distal lumen and the intake lumen are in fluid communication with each other.
