An apparatus for performing local service at a management console includes an accessory interface configured to engage a local service permission tool with a management console in a management enclosure for a computing system, the management enclosure having a closed position with predetermined boundary dimension and an open position, where during engagement with the management console, the local service permission tool prevents the management enclosure from being in the closed position. The apparatus includes a status module that detects whether the local service permission tool is engaged and an access module that disables one or more predetermined remote service functions of the management console in response to the status module detecting that the local service permission tool is engaged. A method and a system for performing local service at a management console perform similar functions to those of the apparatus.

Control of local service modes for a management console

A server rack according to one embodiment includes a sidewall defining an interior, an aperture in the sidewall, and a retractable terminal horizontally positionable between a retracted position and an extended position. The retractable terminal is positioned in the interior when in the retracted position. The retractable terminal is configured to extend through the aperture of the sidewall. The retractable terminal includes a base frame and a pivoting frame pivotally coupled to the base frame. The pivoting frame is configured to receive at least a display. The pivoting frame is positionable between an undeployed position and a deployed position relative to the base frame when the retractable terminal is in the extended position. The pivoting frame is about parallel to the base frame when in the undeployed position. The pivoting frame is oriented at least 30 degrees from the base frame when in the deployed position.

Rack having a stowable retractable terminal for varying the positioning of input devices relative to the rest of the rack and/or a user

In one general embodiment, a server rack is provided. The server rack includes a sidewall having at least one fixed rail, and an aperture in the sidewall. Further, the server rack includes a retractable terminal configured to extend through the aperture of the sidewall on sliding rails configured to slide along the at least one fixed rail in a direction parallel to the sidewall. In another general embodiment, a server rack is provided. The server rack includes a sidewall and an aperture in the sidewall. The server rack also includes a first fixed rail within the sidewall, a second fixed rail within the sidewall, a retractable terminal configured to extend through the aperture of the sidewall on sliding rails configured to slide along the first and second fixed rails, and an immovable cable bracket mounted on one of the fixed rails for holding a cable extending from the retractable terminal.

Zero-U rack keyboard and monitor

An apparatus includes a base unit configured to hold electronic equipment, a top panel, a first extension arm that is vertically extendable from a proximal position along a selected dimension of the base unit and a second extension arm that is vertically extendable from a distal position along the selected dimension of the base unit, the first extension arm slide-ably coupled to the top panel, and the second extension arm rotate-ably coupled to the top panel. A corresponding method includes providing the apparatus and raising one end of the top panel previous to raising the other end of the top panel.

In one general embodiment, a server rack is provided. The server rack includes a sidewall and an aperture in the sidewall. The server rack also includes a first fixed rail within the sidewall, and a second fixed rail within the sidewall. Moreover, the server rack includes a retractable terminal configured to extend through the aperture of the sidewall.

Multi-panel server door

An integrated anti-tip mechanism is provided for aiding prevention of an electronics rack from tipping. The anti-tip mechanism comprises a long portion with a first end and a second end, the first end coupled to a base of the electronics rack and the second end coupled to a first end of a short portion. The first end of the short portion is coupled to the second end of the long portion and a second end of the short portion further coupled to a caster. When deployed, the caster rolls in a same direction as a set of casters beneath the electronics rack. The caster is a predetermined distance off the floor such that the weight of the electronics rack is carried by the set of casters beneath the electronics rack but contact the floor if the electronics rack tips thereby preventing the electronics rack from tipping past a predetermined angle.
