A cosmetic product formed as a multi-compartment dispenser is provided wherein an aqueous and an anhydrous composition are stored in separate compartments. The anhydrous composition includes ascorbic acid delivered in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The aqueous composition includes an alkaline agent present to cause a rise in pH of the anhydrous composition as both compositions are blended together after being dispensed from their respective compartments.

Vitamin C delivery system

A method and composition is provided for treating skin conditions including those arising from dermatologic disorders, chronoaging and environmental abuse. Non-ring esterified C.sub.11 -C.sub.30 alkyl or alkenyl esters of salicylic acid are used as the active component in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Most preferred is tridecyl salicylate.

Skin treatment with salicylic acid esters

A cosmetic composition useful for enhancing a whitening effect on skin is described. The composition includes from 0.05 to 3 wt. % of a thickening polymer; from 1 to about 10 wt. % of the emulsifying system selected from the group consisting of a polyethylene glycol ether of cetearyl alcohol having a formula R (OCH.sub.2).sub.n OH wherein R is a straight or branched alkyl group having a chain length from 10 to 20 and n is 10-30; an ethoxylated alcohol selected from the group consisting of a C.sub.12 to C.sub.20 fatty acid polyethylene glycol ester having from 5 to 10 EOs; and a mixture of a cetearyl alcohol and a cetearyl glycoside. The preferred whitening agent is placenta extract.

Emulsifying system for a whitening cosmetic composition

A method is provided for inhibiting oil and grease generation from human skin by applying to the skin a C.sub.11 -C.sub.30 alkyl or alkenyl ester of salicylic acid as an active component in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Most preferred is tridecyl salicylate.

Method for controlling skin oils and grease

Cosmetic skin conditioning compositions containing a salicyloxo .alpha.-carboxy acid. The inventive compositions provide control of sebum secretion from sebocytes, improved oil control and improved skin feel, prevent shine and stickiness, while also providing anti-aging benefits which results in reduced appearance of wrinkles and aged skin, improved skin color, treatment of photoaged skin, improvement in skin's radiance and clarity and finish, and an overall healthy and youthful appearance of the skin.

Cosmetic skin conditioning compositions containing a salicyloxy

A method and composition is provided for treating skin conditions including those arising from dermatologic disorders, chronoaging and environmental abuse. Non-ring esterified C.sub.11 -C.sub.30 alkyl or alkenyl esters of salicylic acid in combination with a retinol C.sub.18 -C.sub.30 fatty acid ester used as the active components are applied to the skin in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Most preferred as the salicylate ester is tridecyl salicylate and as the retinol fatty acid ester is retinyl linoleate.

Skin treatment with salicylic acid esters and retinoids

A cosmetic composition is provided which includes water, an emollient oil, a sunscreen agent and an aluminum salt of a C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 carboxylic acid. Preferred as the aluminum salt is aluminum citrate, the latter not only thickening but also stabilizing the emulsion against breakage.

Thickened and stabilized cosmetic emulsion compositions

A cosmetic sunscreen composition is described that includes an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, an acrylic polymer such as poly(methyl methacrylate) and a chromophoric organic sunscreen agent capable of absorbing ultraviolet radiation within the range 290 to 400 nm. The ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer and acrylic polymer have been found to interactively boost the SPF value of the organic sunscreen.

Sunscreen compositions

A cosmetic sunscreen composition is described that includes an emulsion formed from water, an emollient oil and an organic sunscreen agent capable of absorbing ultraviolet radiation within the range of 290 to 400 nm. Further included in the sunscreen composition is a microfluidized medium formulated and microfluidized separately and prior to blending with the other aforementioned components. This medium includes water, a phospholipid, and an organic sunscreen agent identical to that in the emulsion. The combination of identical sunscreen agents in different environments provides an overall increase in SPF for the overall sunscreen composition.

A cosmetic product formed as a multi-compartment dispenser is provided wherein a first and second substance is stored apart from one another in separate compartments. The first substance incorporates a liquid organic acid in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The second substance incorporates an alkaline agent present in an amount to neutralize the liquid organic acid to thereby form a surface active material.

Clear two-phase cosmetic composition

Thickened cosmetic compositions are provided based upon a thickening system that includes sclerotium gum and a hydrophobically-modified acrylate or methacrylate copolymer. The relative weight ratio of sclerotium gum to the polymer may range from about 1:1 to about 1:30. Compositions according to the present invention may also contain water-soluble vitamins. Interactive viscosity enhancement is particularly evident when free carboxylic groups present on the hydrophobically-modified acrylate or methacrylate copolymer are neutralized with a base thereby forming anionic carboxylate groups.

Thickened cosmetic compositions

A cosmetic composition is provided that includes a silicone copolyol sulfosuccinate and an amphoteric surfactant, preferably in clear gel form. The amphoteric surfactant may be selected from the group consisting of alkyl betaine, alkylamido betaine and combinations thereof.

Cosmetic composition

A cosmetic composition is provided that includes an emulsifying copolymer formed from a major portion of a monoolefinically unsaturated carboxylic monomer and a minor portion of a long-chain acrylate or methacrylate ester monomer, a co-surfactant which is an anionic sulfosuccinate and a pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle. The preferred composition is in the form of a clear gel.
