A laser system for acousto-optics imaging is disclosed. The system comprises: a continuous wave laser source; a first beam splitter configured to split a laser emitted by the continuous wave laser source into a lasing beam and a reference beam; a lasing optical fiber diffusing the lasing beam to a subject; a reference optical fiber providing the reference beam; a collecting optical fiber capable of receiving a scattered beam from the subject; a second beam splitter for merging the scattered and reference beams into a merged beam, and at least one photodetector assembly with a bandwidth higher than the ultrasound frequency to detect the merged beam.

Seismic source for on the move seismic surveying

An optical seismic surveying system including, a multibeam laser source including a plurality of laser-sources, a Diffractive-Optical-Element (DOE), an imager and a processor. The laser-sources direct respective laser-beams toward a single common focal point. The DOE is located at a single common focal point and configured to split each laser-beam into a plurality of laser-beams, toward an instantaneous area of interest. The laser-beams impinging on the instantaneous area of interest produce a laser spot assemblage including a plurality of laser spots. The imager acquires a plurality of defocused images of speckle patterns produced by diffused reflections of the laser spots. The speckle pattern correspond to a respective laser spot and thus to a respective sensing point in the instantaneous area of interest. The processor determines a relative displacement between corresponding speckle patterns in sequential pairs of images and determines a respective time-signal for each sensing point representing vibrations thereat.

Optical seismic surveying system

Systems and methods are provided, which use at least two coherent light sources with known phase relations between them, which are configured to illuminate a target with at least two corresponding spots, an optical unit comprising a mask and configured to focus, onto a sensor, interfered scattered illumination from the spots of the target, passing through the mask, to yield a signal, at least one shifter configured to shift a frequency of at least one of the coherent light sources to provide a carrier frequency in the signal, and a processing unit configured to derive a vibration frequency of the target from the sensor signal with respect to the carrier frequency. The vibration frequency of the target is separated from the carrier frequency and speckle disturbances may be attenuated or avoided.

System for optical seismic surveying of an area of interest including at least one seismic source, at least one laser source, at least one optical sensing system and a processor, the processor being coupled with the seismic source, the laser source and the optical sensing system, the seismic source for generating at least one seismic wave in the area of interest, the laser source for generating a matrix of laser spots over the area of interest, the optical sensing system for detecting reflections of the laser spots as a speckle pattern, wherein the seismic source modifies the speckle pattern and wherein the processor determines at least one property of the seismic wave according to the modified speckle pattern thereby generating a seismic map of the area of interest.

Remote optical seismic surveying and detection and imaging of underground objects

A method for visualizing objects under light obstructing barriers of a target, the method including emitting an ultrasound wave and a laser wave towards a target, detecting a reflected laser wave is detected by optical means, analyzing the optical signal at the ultrasound frequency with demodulation means, generating ultrasonic image characteristics of the interaction of the ultrasound with the different layers of the target, and generating an optical image of the target obtained using optical imaging, wherein the ultrasonic image is fused with the optical image and the fused image is displayed on a display device.

Method and apparatus for the detection of objects under a light obstructing barrier

A method and processing device are presented for reconstructing an absorption and/or scattering image of a region of interest inside a scattering medium. A mathematical model is provided being representative of a relation between the distribution of the intensity and phase of electromagnetic radiation components scattered from a medium and a certain attenuation factor, which is function of spatial variations of scattering and absorption coefficients of the medium. The mathematical is used for processing a map of distribution of the intensity of electromagnetic radiation components scattered from known locations within the region of interest, thereby producing a halftone pattern of the region of interest.

Method and apparatus for imaging absorbing objects in a scattering medium

A method and apparatus are presented for detecting an effect of interactions of electromagnetic radiation with ultrasound radiation at different locations within a region of interest in a scattering medium to thereby enable imaging of said medium. A plurality of sequences of pulses of ultrasound radiation is transmitted towards a plurality of locations, respectively, in said region of interest within an X-Y plane perpendicular to axes of propagation of the ultrasound pulses. Said region of interest is illuminated with incident electromagnetic radiation of at least one wavelength. The phases of the ultrasound radiation or the phases of the electromagnetic radiation components are appropriately controlled in order to be enable identification of the interactions between the electromagnetic and ultrasound radiation that occur at different locations along the Z-axis. Signals of the electromagnetic radiation, each being frequency modulated by a frequency of the ultrasound radiation, are detected, to thereby enabling the imaging of the region of interest.

Apparatus and method for probing light absorbing agents in biological tissues

Method and apparatus for determining the oxygenation level of hemoglobin in a probed region of the human body. A probed region of the body is irradiated with diffuse light, the frequency of which is shifted with ultrasound focused at the probed region. The relation between the two states of the oxygenation of the hemoglobin is determined by the light absorption at the focal region of the ultrasound. The blood volume may be monitored by irradiating the probed region with light at the isosbestic point.
