A fuel pre-heating component in a gas turbine engine includes a component housing extending around a central axis from a first end to a second end, wherein the component housing includes walls that define an inner chamber, a heating element positioned inside the inner chamber, and a plurality of internal fuel channels disposed within the component housing and configured to be heated by the heating element.

Fuel preheating for fuel injection

A valve system includes at least one spin chamber having an outlet drain configured to allow flow out of the spin chamber. A main spin surface of the at least one spin chamber is defined around the outlet drain. A directional jet system is in fluid communication with the at least one spin chamber. The directional jet system includes a plurality of members each is configured to move between a first position for directing a tangential flow around the drain of the at least one spin chamber and a second position for directing a radial flow toward the drain of the at least one spin chamber.

Multi-component swirl valves

A fuel injector assembly can include a manifold defining a manifold channel and a nozzle extending from the manifold. The nozzle can be configured to direct flow from the manifold channel into a combustor. The nozzle can define a fuel inlet open to the manifold channel, a fuel outlet configured to be open to a combustor, and a throat fluidly connecting the fuel inlet to the fuel outlet. The assembly can include a trim device inserted into the manifold. The trim device can be configured to adjust flow between the manifold channel and the fuel inlet to adjust flow through the throat and out of the fuel outlet.

A spacer for a fluid nozzle can include a body configured to fit within a sheath of the fluid nozzle such that a fluid tube positioned within the sheath is held bent over its longitudinal dimension by the body thereby altering a natural frequency of the fuel tube compared to if the fuel tube were not held bent.

In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, a fuel injector can include an annular body defining a gas fuel inlet therein, and a structure extending radially outward from the annular body and configured to extend into an air circuit. The structure can include a gas channel defined within the structure at least partially along a radial length of the structure. The gas channel is in fluid communication with the gas fuel inlet where the structure meets the annular body. The structure also includes a slot opening defined at least partially along a radial length of the structure and configured to fluidically connect the gas channel and the air circuit to all gas fuel to effuse into the air circuit.

A fluid spray nozzle tip can include a feed hole body that defines at least one feed hole and a spray outlet, the at least one feed hole being in direct fluid communication with the spray outlet without also being in fluid communication with an upstream spin chamber. The at least one feed hole can be a plurality of feed holes, wherein the tip further includes a pintle sealing surface body extending from the feed hole body and configured to allow a pintle to seal against a sealing surface thereof.

A system for cleaning an additive manufacturing machine recoater includes a position module for sensing and/or determining a position of a recoater of the additive manufacturing machine and a gas manifold disposed in the additive manufacturing machine and configured to spray a pressurized gas on the recoater when the recoater is in at least one cleaning position. The system includes a valve configured to allow the pressurized gas to flow from a gas source to the gas manifold, and a valve control module configured to control the valve as a function of the position sensed and/or determined by the position module.

A system can include a torsion applicator (e.g., a torsion motor and shaft) configured to apply a torque to a test article that is additively built on and attached to a build plate. The system can include at least one twist sensor and at least one torque sensor. A method for determining quality of an additively manufactured article or batch thereof can include torsion testing at least one additively manufactured test article that is built on and attached to a build plate while the at least one test article is still attached to the build plate.

The swirl vanes define respective swirl slots therebetween for imparting swirl on a fluid passing through the swirl slots. A dynamic seal assembly is disclosed for use in a valve having an upstream pressure side and a downstream pressure side, the dynamic seal assembly including an annular seal member having a generally C-shaped cross-section and including opposed upstream and downstream legs defining an internal cavity with an opening facing toward the upstream pressure side of the valve, wherein the upstream leg has a radial length that is greater than a radial length of the downstream leg and includes a retaining foot that extends angularly away from the upstream leg in an upstream direction at an angle of between about 0&#xb0; and 90&#xb0;, and a metallic spring is disposed within the internal cavity of the seal member for providing a constant sealing force to the seal member.

A combustion system for a gas turbine engine includes a housing defining a pressure vessel. A master injector is mounted to the housing for injecting fuel along a central axis defined through the pressure vessel. A plurality of slave injectors is included. Each slave injector is disposed radially outward of and substantially parallel to the master injector for injecting fuel and air in an injection plume radially outward of fuel injected through the master injector. The master injector and slave injectors are configured and adapted so the injection plume of the master injector intersects with the injection plumes of the slave injectors. The slave injectors can be staged for reduced power operation.
