A thermally reworkable adhesive includes at least one di-epoxide, at least one diamine that is reactive with the at least one di-epoxide, at least one additive that is miscible, but not reactive, with the at least one di-epoxide and/or the at least one diamine. Reaction of the at least one di-epoxide and the at least one diamine forms a crosslinked polymer network and the at least one additive offsets the stoichiometry of the crosslinked polymer network by 5-50%. The offset crosslinked polymer network forms the thermally reworkable adhesive that once cured, at a temperature in the range of 20-200° C., can be de-bonded from a device to which it is attached at a temperature in the range of 50-200° C.

Thermally reworkable adhesives for electronic devices

A metal halide battery includes an intercalation anode, a cathode that includes a metal halide incorporated into an electrically conductive material, an oxidizing gas, and an electrolyte in contact with the intercalation anode, the cathode, and the oxidizing gas. The battery has a cycle life reaching 1000 cycles at a current density that enables the battery to charge within 10-15 minutes. Electrolytes that may be used in the metal halide batteries include (i) carbonate ester-based compounds with at least one ethyl group and an ion-conducting salt and/or (ii) at least one cyclic ester compound.

Rechargeable metal halide battery with intercalation anode

An energy storage device includes an anode; a cathode; an electrolyte in contact with both the anode and the cathode; and an electrically non-conductive, porous separator between the anode and the cathode. At least one major surface of the porous separator includes a coating with a layer having a star polymer. The star polymer includes a hydrophobic core and at least three arms, wherein at least some of the arms includes ion-conductive polar functional groups.

Coated separator for energy storage device

A porous membrane with a molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) greater than about 10 kDa, and a coating on at least a portion of a major surface of the porous membrane. The coating includes a star polymer having a hydrophobic core and hydrophilic arms, wherein the hydrophobic core contacts the porous membrane.

Anti-fouling coatings with star polymers for filtration membranes

Techniques regarding a star polymer with light-activated enhanced antimicrobial functionality are provided. For example, a polymer is provided that can comprise a plurality of non-degradable copolymer arms comprising respective first ends and respective second ends. The respective first ends can be crosslinked to form a vinyl polymer core and the respective second ends can have antimicrobial functionality. Further, the polymer can comprise a singlet oxygen generator loaded within the vinyl polymer core. The singlet oxygen generator can generate a singlet oxygen species in response to light.

Antimicrobial star polymers with light-activated enhanced antimicrobial activity

A coated, thin-film composite membrane includes a porous support and a polyamide barrier layer in contact with the porous support. A fouling-resistant and antimicrobial layer of star polymers is in contact with the polyamide barrier layer. The star polymers included hydrophilic arms of about 40 mol % to about 80 mol % of neutral hydrophilic moieties, and about 60 mol % to about 20 mol % of antimicrobial functional groups.
