Disclosed is a gerotor pump including an inner gear mounted on a first axis, an outer gear mounted on a second axis and meshing internally with the inner gear in an offset manner, and an electrical motor including a rotor and a stator having a radial gap therebetween in a radial direction. The pump also includes a spindle fixedly coupled to the outer gear to facilitate maintaining the radial gap. The spindle is rotatably coupled for rotation about the second axis. The spindle aids in maintaining a consistent radial gap during operation of the gerotor pump. The inner gear may be coupled to a drive shaft for driving the gears. The gerotor pump may be driven via an electric or mechanical driver. A pressure plate may also be positioned adjacent the gerotor gears and within the housing. The spindle and pressure plate help secure the pump parts both axially and radially.

Gerotor with spindle

A dual input fluid pump system for coupling to a transmission or an engine and an electrical motor is disclosed. The system may include a first external gear, vane, internal gear, or gerotor-type pump, a second external gear pump, and connecting shaft. Gears of the second pump include one-way clutch bearings that enable operation of the system in multiple modes including engine-only; motor-only; a combined mode where the engine operates the first pump via the shaft and the motor operates the second pump with an external gear rotating in its pumping direction at a rate greater than the shaft; inlet boost; and a disconnection mode. Also noted is a pump that has a first shaft for coupling the engine to a first external gear and a second shaft for coupling the motor to a second external gear, as well as a one-way clutch bearing that performs in a similar manner.

Dual input pump and system

A flexplate assembly comprising a central plate having a general disc shape disposed about and extending radially from an axis. The central plate has a first radial width. A ring gear is annularly secured about the central plate and presents an outer circumference that defines a plurality of ring teeth extending therefrom. At least one noise plate is disposed adjacent to the central plate and extends circumferentially about the axis for reducing vibrations and noise from the flexplate assembly. The noise plate has a second radial width that is at least one half of the first radial width of the central plate. A method of constructing such a flexplate assembly is also provided.

Reduced noise flexplate

A reduced noise flexplate assembly and method of construction is provided. The assembly includes a central plate that is generally disc shaped and extends radially from an axis. A ring gear is disposed annularly about the central plate and presents a plurality of ring teeth that extend radially therefrom for engaging a pinion gear coupled to a starter of an automobile. A noise plate is attached to the central plate with a plurality of plate fasteners and extends circumferentially about the axis. The noise plate includes a flange and a lower lip extending generally axially and radially outwardly from the inside flange to a maximum deflection zone adjacent to the ring teeth of the ring gear. The noise plate is frictionally engaged with and slideably moveable relative to the central plate and/or ring gear to reduce noise and reduce vibrations during starting of the automobile by converting friction into heat.
