Provided are novel high entropy nitrides (HENs) exhibiting excellent physical and chemical properties. Also provided are systems and methods to synthesize bulk HENs by reaction flash sintering. Commercial metal nitride powders can be consolidated into near fully dense single-phase bulk ceramic with a proprietary flash sintering apparatus. A constant DC electrical field of &#x2dc;80 V/cm and pressure of &#x2dc;15 MPa at room temperature can trigger reaction flash sintering without pre-heating, and the entire process can finish in &#x2dc;250 seconds to &#x2dc;400 seconds.

High entropy nitride ceramics and methods of synthesizing the same

The subject invention provides systems and methods for capturing carbon dioxide in a cyclic process of mechano-chemical reactions. The subject invention also provides systems and methods for synthesizing siderite, by means of mechano-chemical reactions, using mill rotation. Siderite acts as an efficient reversible sorbent and can be decomposed, generating magnetite, carbon and/or metallic iron as well as pure carbon dioxide. Said systems and methods employing carbon dioxide capture/release reactions in the carbonation-calcination cycles are suitable for using in any iron, steel and non-steel industries to reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere.

Methods for carbon dioxide capture

A system and method for the simultaneous sequestration of CO2, production of hydrogen, and production of electricity at any iron and steel industries is described. In one illustrative example, the raw materials particularly used in a blast furnace can also be used for locking CO2 gas in the form of siderite. Siderite, thus formed, can be decomposed to generate pure CO2 gas. Eventually, the generated pure CO2 gas can be sequestered underground, sold or used for oil gas recovery or for other applications.

Method and system for sequestering carbon dioxide and producing hydrogen gas

The subject invention provides materials and methods for treating diseases affecting the central nervous system (CNS) and/or other viral reservoir organs utilizing nanoscopic diamond particles, i.e., nanodiamonds (ND), loaded with therapeutic agents of interests. In one aspect, the subject invention provides a composition for treating a subject's brain and/or other organs acting as viral reservoirs, the composition comprising a plurality of ND particles measuring less than 10 nm in size, wherein the ND particles are loaded with at least one therapeutic agent of interest. In another aspect, the subject invention provides methods of treating disorders affecting the CNS such as, for example, the brain and other viral reservoir organs such as, for example, lymph nodes and gut-associated lymphoid tissues (GALT), utilizing the drug delivery system comprising a plurality of ND particles as provided herein.
