The present disclosure provides an aerosol source member and an aerosol delivery device that includes an aerosol source member. The aerosol source member includes a segmented substrate portion that includes a first substrate segment and a second substrate segment. The first substrate segment includes a first aerosol former, the second substrate segment includes a second aerosol former different from the first aerosol former, and the second substrate segment is positioned between the first substrate segment and a downstream end of the aerosol source member. The first substrate segment and the second substrate segment are configured such that when heated by a heat source, the first substrate segment is heated to a first temperature and the second substrate segment is heated to a second temperature that is less than the first temperature.

The present disclosure provides an aerosol delivery device and a liquid delivery and atomization assembly for use with an aerosol delivery device. In one implementation, the liquid delivery and atomization assembly may comprise a liquid composition, an atomization assembly, and a liquid transport element configured to transport at least a portion of the liquid composition to the atomization assembly. The atomization assembly may comprise a piezoelectric component that includes an interdigital transducer configured to generate surface acoustic waves that vaporize the portion of the liquid composition to generate an aerosol. The liquid transport element may comprise one or more of a fibrous material that includes fibers having a multi-lobal cross-section, a perforated disk, or a combination thereof. The perforated disk may include a plurality of openings and a plurality of microchannels that extend from a periphery of the disk to the plurality of openings.

An aerosol delivery device is provided that comprises a control body and an aerosol source member. The aerosol delivery device includes a resonant transformer comprising a resonant transmitter and a resonant receiver. The aerosol source member includes an inhalable substance medium at least a portion of which is positioned proximate the resonant transmitter. The resonant transmitter is configured to generate an oscillating magnetic field and induce an alternating voltage in the resonant receiver when exposed to the oscillating magnetic field, such that the alternating voltage causes the resonant receiver to generate heat and thereby vaporize components of the inhalable substance medium to produce an aerosol. In some implementations, the resonant receiver comprises part of the control body. In other implementations, the resonant receiver comprises part of the aerosol source member.

The disclosure provides for oral compositions that exhibit desired properties associated with moist products while incorporating a relatively low water content. Such compositions may include at least one releasable material, at least one filler/carrier component, and at least one water substitute, such as a polyol. The water substituted may be present in an amount of about 25% by weight or greater based on the total weight of the oral composition, and the compositions and products formed therewith can exhibit a relatively low water activity, such as in the range of about 0.85 or less. The present disclosure provides aerosol generating substrates and aerosol source members comprising aerosol generating substrates, as well as methods of manufacturing thereof. In an example implementation, an aerosol generating substrate may comprise a fibrous filler material, an aerosol forming material, and a plurality of heat conducting constituents, wherein the substrate is formed as a sheet, and wherein the heat conducting constituents are part of the sheet. The heat conducting constituents may be incorporated within the sheet, or may be formed on a surface of the sheet. In another example implementation, an aerosol source member may comprise a substrate portion formed of a collection of intermingled pieces cut from an aerosol substrate sheet. In addition, or alternatively, a substrate portion may be formed of a series of overlapping layers of an aerosol substrate sheet.

The present disclosure relates to aerosol delivery devices, methods of forming such devices, and elements of such devices. In some embodiments, the present disclosure provides devices configured for vaporization of an aerosol precursor composition that is stored in and/or transported to a heater by a porous monolith, which can be, for example, a porous glass or a porous ceramic. A heater can be in a heating arrangement with an external portion of the porous monolith or can be substantially internal to the porous monolith.

In an example implementation, an aerosol delivery device comprises an aerosol source member that defines an outer surface and an interior area and includes a substrate material having an aerosol precursor composition associated therewith, a control body having a housing that is configured to receive the aerosol source member, an electrical energy source coupled with the housing, and a heating assembly operatively connected to the electrical energy source. The heating assembly includes a plurality of spikes that may be configured to articulate between a retracted position, in which the plurality of spikes is not in contact with the aerosol source member, and a heating position, in which the plurality of spikes pierces through the outer surface of the substrate material and into a portion of the interior area thereof.

In one aspect, an aerosol delivery device may comprise a control body having a closed distal end and an open engaging end, a heating member, a control component located within the control body and configured to control the heating member, a power source located within the control body and configured to provide power to the control component, and a removable aerosol source member that includes a substrate portion. The substrate portion may include a continuous heat conductive framework integrated with an aerosol forming material, wherein the continuous thermally conductive framework is configured to enhance heat transfer from the heating member to the aerosol forming material.
