A method and apparatus for estimating bitrate, buffering events and/or other QoE metrics of video reception, based on CDN logs, are provided. The method and apparatus may rely on an AI model, including a neural network. The neural network may receive a training data set comprised of a plurality of CDN server logs. The CDN server logs may be associated with known QoE metrics collected from a plurality of user devices. Once the neural network is trained, a CDN server log, without associated QoE metrics, may be received as input. With the trained neural network and the CDN server log, buffering events and average bitrate QoE metrics may be estimated for one or more user devices without explicitly receiving QoE metrics from the user device.

Estimating OTT player QoE metrics from CDN logs using AI and machine learning

A method and system may input telemetry into a data structure. The telemetry may comprise a plurality of measurement results or other data collected from remote network nodes. Subscriber use metrics may be determined from the telemetry. From the use metrics and habits of the subscriber, user characteristics may be determined. A likelihood of service cancellation, based on the user characteristics, may be estimated in an embodiment. In another embodiment, a likelihood of receiving an inquiry from the subscriber at a subscriber support center may be estimated. Service enhancements may be proactively provided to the subscriber, based on the telemetry, the subscriber use metrics and the user characteristics in advance of service cancellation or receiving the inquiry. Last mile equipment may provide telemetry. The last mile equipment may include set top boxes, cellular phones, tablets and the like.

Providing risk based subscriber enhancements

A method may comprise collecting data from a core network, an operator network and a customer premise network. KPI values corresponding to one or more KPIs may be determined, based on the collected data. KQI values corresponding to one or more KQIs may be determined, based on the one or more of the determined KPI values. The determined KQI values may be output to an operator. In an embodiment, data collected from the core network may include data collected from one or more analyzer devices and head end probes. Data collected from a customer premise network may include data collected from last mile equipment or customer premise probes.

Analytics in video/audio content distribution networks

A radio receiver component includes a first antenna line for receiving a first signal and a second antenna line for receiving a second signal. Each of the first signal and the second signal is a respective intermediate frequency (IF) signal produced by down-converting a respective radio frequency (RF) signal received by a respective antenna. The first antenna line includes a demodulator that receives the first signal and down-converts the first signal to produce one or more baseband signals, one or more variable baseband delay paths that delay the one or more baseband signals, a modulator that receives the one or more delayed baseband signals and up-converts the one or more delayed baseband signals to produce a third IF signal. The radio receiver component further includes a combiner that receives and combines the second signal and the third signal to produce a fourth signal.

Intermediate frequency combiner with baseband delay

A method for biasing a power amplifier using a transmission signal having a time-varying envelope is provided. The method comprises producing a time-varying signal indicative of an amplitude of the envelope of the transmission signal and comparing the time-varying signal to a plurality of distinct threshold voltages. The method further comprises, for each of the plurality of distinct threshold voltages exceeded by the time-varying signal, providing a respective bias voltage to a respective input of a summing device and producing, using the summing device, an output bias voltage that is at least a sum of the respective bias voltages provided to the respective inputs of the summing device. The method further comprises biasing the power amplifier with the output bias voltage and amplifying the transmission signal using the power amplifier biased at the output bias voltage.

Multi-level digital adaptive PA bias for microwave radios

A digital microwave radio system includes a splitter that splits a common baseband input into two baseband outputs, first and second transmitters, each transmitter electrically connected to a baseband output of the splitter via a mixer, a common local oscillator electrically connected to the mixer of the first transmitter and the mixer of the second transmitter via an adjustable phase shifter, respectively, and a combiner. The common local oscillator is configured to up-convert each baseband output into a radio-frequency signal using a corresponding mixer. The combiner combines the two radio-frequency signals into a 0-degree phase-shift output and a 180-degree phase-shift output, respectively. A phase error control loop adjusts the phase shifter to minimize the 180-degree phase-shift radio-frequency output. A combiner gain control loop adjusts the output power level of the two transmitters in accordance with an actual power detector reading at the 0-degree phase-shift radio-frequency output.

Efficient output power combining digital microwave radio system

A system and method for protecting a received data stream. Active receivers and standby receivers are provided, each adaptable to receive a data stream on a traffic channel. Plural data processing units are operatively in communication with the receivers. At least one of the plural DPUs provides a switching signal to the receivers to switch the state of the active receiver to standby and the state of the standby receiver to active as a function of a quality measurement of the received data stream via the traffic channel.

Distributed protection switching architecture for point-to-point microwave radio systems

A method for performing digital predistortion to a microwave radio transceiver in response to an increase/decrease of transmit power level is disclosed. If the new transmit power level is higher than the current transmit power level, a set of digital predistortion (DPD) coefficients is applied to the transceiver before the issuance of a transmit power level increase command to the transceiver. Otherwise, a transmit power level decrease command is issued to the transceiver before the application of the set of DPD coefficients to the transceiver. Determining the set of DPD coefficients for the transceiver involves two stages: (i) calibrating the transceiver at a room temperature under predefined conditions and generating a DPD lookup table including DPD coefficients at a plurality of predefined temperatures other than the room temperature and (ii) determining the set of DPD coefficients for a given set of operating conditions using entries in the DPD lookup table.

Dynamic digital predistortion for a microwave radio system

A transceiver used in a radio unit for wireless communication, comprises: a circuitry board including a transmitter and a receiver; a first connector on a first side of the circuitry board, wherein the first connector is configured to be connected to an interface card; a second connector on a second side of the circuitry board, wherein the second side is opposite the first side and the second connector is configured to be connected to a digital card via a flexible circuit; and a pair of transmit port and receive port located on the second side of the circuitry board, wherein the transmit port is coupled to the transmitter and the receive port coupled to the receiver, respectively. When the transceiver is part of a split-mount radio unit (SRU), the first connector is connected to the interface card and the second connector is not in use. When the transceiver is part of an all-outdoor radio unit (AOU), the second connector is connected to the digital card and the first connector is not in use.

Flexible unified architecture for point-to-point digital microwave radios

A method is provided for synchronizing a first radio unit with a second radio unit associated with an all outdoor radios system, the method including: receiving, at the first radio unit and the second radio unit, respectively, a communication signal from a common communication source; receiving, at the first radio unit and the second radio unit, respectively, a reference signal from a common reference source; synchronizing the communication signal at each of the first radio unit and the second radio unit with the reference signal such that the each of the first radio unit and the second radio unit generates an output signal having substantially the same frequency and substantially the same phase; and transmitting the output signal from each of the first radio unit and the second radio unit to a remote receiver through an antenna.

Hitless efficient transmitter protection of all outdoor radios

System and method for implementing a link aggregation system, a protection system, and an XPIC application for an all outdoor radios system using a wireless channel operating at a license-free 60 GHz band are provided. The license-free 60 GHz band offers a wide frequency bandwidth that can support a high speed data rate up to 10 Gbps in full duplex mode, frequency reuse, and high security due to its fast oxygen absorption at 60 GHz. As such, a wireless channel operating at the license-free 60 GHz band may be used for a link aggregation system to support wireless local area network (LAN) connections with the speed up to 7 Gbps. In addition, a wireless connection operating at the license-free 60 GHz band may be used to support both XPIC application and protection system for all outdoor radios to achieve a transmission speed of up to 10 Gbps in a full duplex mode.

An outdoor radio communication system housed in a single enclosure comprises a first transceiver, a second transceiver, a communication interface unit, an RF in-phase transmit combiner, an antenna coupling unit and a receive filter. The first transceiver includes a first receiver and a first transmitter. The second transceiver includes a second receiver and a second transmitter. The two transceivers are communicatively coupled with the communication interface unit. The RF in-phase transmit combiner, communicatively coupled to the first transmitter and the second transmitter, receives a phase-aligned RF signal from each transmitter, to create a third RF signal with enhanced signal gain. The two phase-aligned RF signals originate from the same source in the communication interface unit. The antenna coupling unit is communicatively coupled to the RF in-phase transmit combiner and the first receiver, and the receive filter is communicatively coupled to the second receiver.

Compact dual all-outdoor point-to-point microwave radio architecture

A microwave transmit/receive enclosure comprises an enclosure housing and one or more I/O connection ports that are mounted on one side of the enclosure housing. The enclosure housing contains a removable communication connector and a removable memory card. Both the removable communication connector and the removable memory card can be inserted into or removed from the enclosure housing via the same I/O connection port.
