A vapor-compression system includes a centrifugal compressor configured to increase a pressure of a refrigerant based on at least one of an activation of a device or the device being equal to or above a first threshold temperature. A fluid communication system is configured to provide, to the device, a portion of the refrigerant in a liquid state. The portion of the liquid refrigerant in a liquid state is configured to have a saturation temperature equal to or below the first temperature threshold.

Vapor cycle cooling system for high powered devices

The disclosure describes a system that includes an evaporator, an accumulator downstream of the evaporator, a centrifugal compressor downstream of the accumulator, a first heat exchanger stage downstream of the centrifugal compressor, and a second heat exchanger stage downstream of the first heat exchanger stage. The evaporator is configured to cool a conditioned air stream using a refrigerant. The accumulator is configured to store excess refrigerant. The centrifugal compressor is configured to compress the refrigerant. The first heat exchanger stage is configured to cool the refrigerant using environmental air. The second heat exchanger stage is configured to cool the refrigerant from the first heat exchanger stage using a portion of the excess refrigerant from the accumulator.

Surge control subcooling circuit

The disclosed technology generally relates to a compressor housing that includes a main housing portion and an end housing portion. The main housing portion is configured to house a compressor motor and an inlet housing. The inlet housing is configured to receive vapor refrigerant downstream of the compressor motor. The main housing portion and the end housing portion are configured to interface at a mating surface of the respective housing portions and define a volume. The end housing portion includes a sensor cavity extending into the volume toward an opening of the inlet housing.

A system includes an air pressurization system (APS) and an environmental control system (ECS). The APS is configured to supply pressurized supply air to the ECS. The ECS includes a primary heat exchanger (PHX), an air-driven turbine downstream of the PHX, and a vapor cycle refrigeration system (VCRS) downstream of the PHX. The PHX is configured to cool the supply air using environmental air. The turbine is configured to power a vapor cycle refrigeration system (VCRS) using the supply air. The VCRS is configured to cool the supply air to generate cabin air.

The disclosed technology generally relates to a compressor housing, comprising a first portion configured to house a compressor motor of a centrifugal compressor, a second portion configured to house an inlet housing of the centrifugal compressor, where the inlet housing is configured to receive refrigerant into an impeller assembly of the centrifugal compressor, and at least one refrigerant accumulator upstream of the second portion, the at least one refrigerant accumulator configured to accumulate liquid refrigerant.

The throttle valve is configured to control flow of cabin discharge air from the manifold to the power unit. A method includes receiving a pressure measurement for the manifold and a pressure setpoint for the manifold representing a predetermined flow of cabin discharge air from the cabin to the manifold. The method includes determining and outputting, based on the pressure measurement and the pressure setpoint, a control signal for at least one manifold inlet configured to control flow of cabin discharge air from the cabin to the manifold.

Cabin discharge air management system and method for auxiliary power unit

A pressure control system includes an overboard valve in indirect communication with a first enclosed environment and in direct communication with a second enclosed environment. The first environment is suitable for human occupancy and configured to receive pressurized air from an environmental control system. The second environment is configured to receive the pressurized air from the first environment. An inboard valve is configured to supply a discharge of pressurized air from the second environment. An outflow valve is configured to regulate a discharge of air from the first environment to an area outside the first and second environments. A positive pressure relief valve configured to regulate a discharge of air from the first environment. A negative pressure relief valve configured to regulate an ingress of air into the first environment. A control valve is configured to regulator and supply pressurized air from the first environment to a compressor.

In some examples, a temperature control system comprises a heat exchanger providing thermal communication between inlet air and an avionics temperature controlled fluid, for controlling the temperature of the inlet air for use in an onboard oxygen generating system (OBOGS). The inlet air that exits the heat exchanger can be used as supply air for the OBOGS.

A regenerative heat exchanger includes an inlet and an outlet in communication with the inlet. The heat exchanger is configured to operate in two modes. A first mode uses only an ambient flow to cool a hot flow and a second mode uses both the ambient flow and a regenerative flow to cool the hot flow.
